This red cardinal napkin is definitely one of my very fave from the Christmas and Winter bundle last year. But then again, it’s too hard to choose a fave!

How to Make a Cardinal Napkin Sign

I started with a wood surface that I had already used to test out a wood grain tool, so it had that brown wood grain look to begin with. You could simply stain your surface with Antique Wax, and it would look just as good.

Then I used a spouncer to dab on red randomly throughout the surface. I wanted just a little bit of red to peek through after we do the chippy paint method.

To get the “chippy” look, rub candle wax all over the surface of the wood, right on top of the red and brown. I didn’t cover it completely, but I did cover quite a bit in a total random fashion.

Basically, wherever you have the candle wax is where the paint will chip off in the next step. If you want it super chippy then add more wax, less chippy add less wax.

Next, I used a chip brush to paint white chalk paint over the top. I didn’t do a FULL coverage, but it’s not quite a dry brush either.

Now for the fun part……chipping it! Use a paint scraper to scrape off as much or as little of the paint as you like. You can also use packing tape to pull up the paint. I like that method better most times, but for this project I decided to just use my scraper.

I cut my napkin down to just the one image, and separated it down to one ply.

Then, I used Mod Podge to decoupage the napkin front and center on my chippy wood surface. (Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge, then lay your napkin down and smooth it out the best you can. Embrace the wrinkles!)

Next, I grunged it up with Waverly Antique Wax. I added the wax all around the edge of my surface, and around the napkin as well.

Time for the bow! I ripped up a bunch of red and green coordinating fabric along with some coffee stained muslin into 1 inch wide strips.

Then I used my Bowdabra to make a big messy bow. I added some red and green raffia into the bow too. You definitely don’t NEED a Bowdabra, but I sure do love mine!

Using an irregular ruler, I ripped some thick Kraft Paper into the shape of a hangtag and punched a hole in the top.

I stamped the word “Believe” with my acrylic alphabet stamps. I chose “believe” because cardinals are reminders of loved ones, and I choose to believe they are here with us when a cardinal is around.

Then glued it to the center of the bow with a big brown button.

To finish it off I glued a twine hanger across the back, and reinforced it with popsicle sticks.

Can we say GORGEOUS with a capital G!? I just love how this one turned out.

This neutral, leopard print, and gold Thrift Flip Watering Can was the start of my Fall neutral frenzy.

I saw these florals at Walmart, and it started it all! From here, my entire DIY fall decor theme was full of leopard, neutral, gold, and cremes, and I am totally here for it again this year.

How to Flip a Thrifted Watering Can into Floral Fall Decor

Here is how the thrifted watering can started. It’s purple and don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty but it’s not what I was going for.

So I painted it to look like galvanized metal. First, I coated the entire watering can in grey paint. Then I dabbed on the silver, the black, and the white in layers with a sponge and just kept dabbing until I got the galvanized metal look I was going for.

Next, I ripped out the image on the napkin using a water pen and then separated the plys of my napkin down to one ply. I then decoupaged the napkin to the front of the watering can.

Time to add the florals, pumpkins, leaves, and greenery! Trust me, I am NOT a florist by any means, I just kept tweaking and arranging until it looked nice and full and I liked the way it looked.

I glued the leopard print pumpkins and leaves to skewers and stuck them in randomly as well.

I was SO happy when I found this sparkly sequin gold pumpkin, so of course I added that into the arrangement as well.

Clothespins wreaths were sooooo popular for sooooo long, but they kind of faded out a few years back. Well, I am reviving it this year, but in a different way…..

With cardboard! So no need to even buy a wire wreath form to make this one.

You could make this with ANY napkin and any embellishments you want. It of course doesn’t have to be pink Halloween like mine, you could even make a Fall or Christmas clothespin wreath too.

Supplies Needed to Make a Spooky Halloween Clothespin Wreath

How to Make a Spooky Halloween Clothespin Napkin Wreath

First thing I did was trace two bowls onto a piece of cardboard. One just a bit bigger than the other, to make a donut shape. The donut is about 2 inches thick.

Next, I cut the donut shape out with a good box cutter.

Then, I painted the entire cardboard donut all black.

Now for the clothespins. I took my napkin and separated the plys to get it down to one ply.

I then used Mod Podge to decoupage the napkin to the top of the clothespins. I did a total of 18 decoupaged clothespins. The fastest way was to stick them all down to the napkin next to each other in a row, and then use scissors and cut them apart, rather them do them one at a time.

I used my gator sander to sand all the excess napkin from the clothespins.

I wanted to add a bit more color in and pull the purple from the napkins, so I painted 3 clothespins purple.

I also used 3 white clothespins, but I had them spray painted and left over from a previous project, so I didn’t have to paint them for this project.

For the Dollar Tree Spooky Ghost cutout, I painted the ghost white and the “Spooky” pink (color is Apple Barrel “Fruit Punch” mixed with “Pure pink”).

The white on the clothespins and the ghost was TOO white, so I distressed it a bit with my Tim Holtz Distressed Ink by rubbing it lightly on the edges.

Now for the hanger, I looped a piece of buffalo check ribbon around the top of the donut, and then glued the edges together.

I realized I wouldn’t be able to actually hang it this way, so I then added a small black bakers twine loop to the top, and that worked out great!

To make it all pretty I made a simple buffalo check bow and glued that to the top of the hanger.

Let’s put it all together! I started clipping the clothespins around the donut in the following pattern: 3 Decoupaged napkin, 1 white, 3 decoupaged napkin, 1 purple, and then repeat.

I put on the finishing touch by gluing the Spooky Ghost to the front and center of the clothespin wreath.

I love crafting and decorating for every holiday, and Halloween is no exception.

But when I craft, I love to be different and thats exactly what this Dollar Tree PINK Boo Ghost is…….different and pink! Although pink certainly is becoming increasingly popular for Halloween these days.

A few years ago I did an entirely Rainbow Halloween and boy was that a fun one.

My favorites were the Dollar Tree Rainbow Skeleton, and Rainbow ghost with Boo banner. But I loved EVERYTHING I made that year as well.

How to Make a Make a Dollar Tree Pink BOO Ghost

So let me show you how to make this cutie! I started with the Dollar Tree Wood Ghosts (3 different sized ones), a napkin from my Big pack of Craftkins, some bakers twine and the Dollar Tree “Boo” cutouts.

The supplies laid out on the table, a ghost, napkin, and bakers twine.

First, I removed the wood base off of the larger ghost.

Pulling the wood base off the bottom of the wood ghost.

Then painted it white, along with all 3 wood ghosts.

Next, I distressed all the outer edges of each ghost with my Tim Holtz Ink, by rubbing it onto the edges lightly.

The small ghost didn’t have cutout eyes, so I drew them on with black Sharpie.

I separated the napkin down to one ply, and I decoupaged a piece of it onto the wood base. Then I sanded the excess napkin off with my gator sander.

For the “BOO!”, I painted the exclamation point white, and then Mod Podged a piece of the napkin on top and sanded the excess napkin off.

And then painted the rest of the “BOO!” pink to coordinate with the flowers in the napkin.

Next I started gluing everything together. I started by gluing the large ghost into the base like it originally came.

And then glued the BOO! to the front of the base.

I thought that the pink BOO! needed a little somethin’ somethin’, so I added tiny white polka dots all around the edges using the end of a paint brush.

I made tiny bakers twine shoestring bows for the ghosts head and neck, one black and 2 pink bows.

Next, I glued the medium size ghost to the back of the larger ghost, so that it looks like its peeking out from behind its right shoulder (do ghosts have shoulders?).

Then I glued the small ghost to the front of the letter B.

The large and medium ghosts had eyes cut out, but I wanted them black, so I glued a pieced of sparkly black scrapbook paper behind them.

For the finishing touch, I added a small black and white bakers twine shoestring bow as a “bow tie” for the larger ghost.

Oh.EM.GEE. I just love how this turned out! Here are some pics of her all done!

I am not a huge “Farmhouse” crafter, but when I do make farmhouse crafts, boy are they cute! I don’t know which one I love more, this one or the Wooden Cow and Wooden Pig I made. Pretty soon I will have a whole darn farm!

How to Make a Farmhouse Pig, Chicken, and Rooster Sign

First, I took 6 paint sticks and lined them up alternating the handle ends.

This is where it gets interesting…we’re going to brace them together with popsicle sticks and hot glue, then take them apart, and then brace them back together again. Let me explain…..

To give the background that slatted look, we’re going to first brace them together with the popsicle sticks and just a small amount of hot glue so that you have one solid background. Then paint the entire background all white, and decoupage the napkin to it using Mod Podge.

Next, use an X-acto knife to gently slice the napkin down the line in between the paint sticks. Once they are all separated, remove the popsicle sticks from the back (you can heat the glue up with a heat gun and they should pop right off), and separate the paint sticks.

Sand all of the excess napkin from the edges of the paint sticks. Then put it back together and brace them with popsicle sticks and a proper amount of hot glue.

Make sure to pay attention to the order of the paint sticks so that your napkin lines up correctly. This is how it should look below once the slats are put back together. Looks pretty neat, right?

Next, I stained all of the small wood farm animals with Antique Wax.

For the cow, I added a tail with a piece of wired twine because it looked a little odd without it.

Then, I made a small twine bow with a sunflower embellishment and glued it to his neck.

For the rooster, I made a teeny fabric bow with a sunflower embellishment and glued it to his neck.

And for the pig, I did the exact same thing as the cow except I made the tail a curly Q with wired twine. I glued the bow and sunflower to his tail, rather than his neck.

For the hanger, I used jute rope, but gave it a little twist by knotting it and gluing it to the FRONT of the project rather then the back.

For not being a huge farmhouse lover, I sure do love this farm animal craft!

It’s the sunflowers for me.

How to Make a Wood Mason Jar with a Decoupaged Christmas Napkin

This Christmas Napkin Mason Jar is SO easy, all you do is paint the entire thing white and then decoupage the napkin on top.

First separate the plys of the napkin down to just the top one, then apply Mod Podge over top of your white painted mason jar, and gently lay your napkin on top. Smooth out as many wrinkles as possible, but don’t worry about making it perfect! Saran wrap helps to smooth it out without ripping your napkin.

Sand the excess napkin off with a sanding sponge or Gator Sander.

Glue some faux pine across the top of the Wood Mason Jar, then add a poinsettia head, a gold glitter pine cone, and a simple twine bow to finish it off.

That is literally IT! So easy, so cute, so fun and so festive.

First, you need to paint your entire background all yellow and stain your shims with Antique Wax. I used 8 shims total.

Then glue your shims to the yellow background, alternating thick end with thin end of the shims.

Next, separate the layers of your napkin so that you are left with the single top ply, and then Mod Podge it to your 4 x 4 wood square.

Sand off the excess napkin with your Gator sander or sanding sponge.

To give it a more finished look, glue twine around the edge of the napkin square.

Next, paint the word “family” yellow, and the small heart green to match the napkin.

Glue a strip of burlap under the napkin onto the wood shims, and glue the word “family” on top.

Add some boxwood greenery and small white flowers to each side of the word for extra decoration.

Last but not least, make a Sunflower bead hanger, and glue to to the top to hang. I reinforced the hanger by gluing a strip of ribbon over each end.

And there she is! All done and looking cute as can be.

So you’ve just opened your adorable Pink or Teal envelope. You quickly thumb through all of the cuteness, thinking each one is cuter than next. You’ve got 18 napkins that you are obSESSed with (or 21 if you are in The CRafterparty). Now what!? Time to craft!

How to Use Napkins from the Fall-O-Ween Big Pack of Craftkins

Below is a pic of each of the crafts that we made using one of the Craftkins. You can click on each title or pic and it will take you to the tutorial. Remember, you don’t have to use these EXACT napkins to make these crafts, they are just for inspiration so raid your stash and see what you have that is similar.

I have been really good about not buying supplies that I don’t need, especially at Dollar Tree, but when I saw this wood seahorse I just couldn’t resist.

I had immediate inspiration to make it over, but I didn’t know exactly what I was going to do with it just yet.

Of course, it sat in my pile of summer craft supplies allllll summer long until it came time to pack up the summer stuff to take out fall.

I REFUSED to pack this “had to have” supply up for next year and thats when inspiration struck! I could use a napkin from my Big Pack of Craftkins and chippy the heck out of it with wax and packing tape!

And I am so happy that’s what I did because I’m obsessed with how she turned out.

Can we talk about that chippy though? The napkin is just subtle enough to look like it was almost made like that.

Let me show you how I made this Beach Bum Dollar Tree Chippy Seahorse so you can make one too.

Supplies Needed to Makeover a Dollar Tree Chippy Seahorse

How to Makeover a Dollar Tree Wooden Seahorse

The first step is to make the whole background by doing the chippy paint technique using wax and packing tape. It’s best to watch the replay to see just how I did this, but I’ll explain how I did it as well.

Start by painting the entire background with various shades of blues and greens. You can do a rough ombre like I did, or you can simply paint diagonal stripes. Once the chippy has been done you won’t be able to tell exactly how it looks underneath, so don’t worry about it being perfect.

Next, you’re going to rub the entire background generously with the candle wax, and then paint the entire thing white over the top of that.

Once the white is completely dry, take a piece of packing tape and lay it on top of the white paint in strips, and then rip it off. Start with light pressure and increase pressure from there based on your results. The tape should pull up bits and pieces of the white paint only, making it look chipped and exposing the blues and greens underneath it.

Now take your seashell napkin and use a water pen to “cut” out the seashells giving them a deckled (feathered) edge. Then Mod Podge the napkins randomly around the Seahorse.

Knowing that I was going to add a big ‘ole bow, I didn’t put any of the napkins around the seahorses “neck”.

Distress and grunge up the entire thing with lots of Antique Wax to give it an old vintage beach vibe.

I wrapped a small piece of twine around the seahorse tail as extra decoration.

For the star of the show, the bow! I used my bowdabra and several ripped strips of coordinating fabric and lattice ribbon to make a big messy beautiful bow. I added in some excelsior to make it even bigger and fuller and give it a little bit of extra whimsy pizazz.

Glue a seashell right in the center to finish it off.

To make the “Beach Bum” hangtag, rip a rectangle of Muslin about 4′ X 2″ and then a piece of Kraft paper just a tad smaller. Mod Podge the Kraft paper to the top of the Muslin, and then distress the edges with Antique Wax and some matching blue/greens from the surface.

Use a fine tip Sharpie to write “Beach Bum” or whatever other witty and clever little saying you can come up with.

Tie a piece of twine to the top so that you can hang your Dollar Tree Seahorse for all to see!
