Mason Jars are a classic staple for crafts and decor all year round and this Decoupaged Honey Bee Mason Jar is no exception for Spring! This Sweat Pea and Hunny Bee printable will have everyone “buzzing” about how they can get one for themselves too!

Every since I discovered printable from Digital Deco Designs I have been literally obsessed. I’m telling ya, go check them out for yourself and I dare you to not get addicted!

The Sweat Pea Hunny Bee Printable that I am using in this project is from my digital subscription to download and print at home, but if you don’t have a printer she does print and ship too! The super uh-maz-ing thing about her prints is that they are done on RICE PAPER! Say Whhaaaaaaaat!?

If you have not Mod Podged something with rice paper, you are not living your best Crafty Life my friend. Jus’ Sayin’. And the best thing about this particular print is that it’s a combo mini print, so if you’ don’t have the subscription and you’re buying just for this project, you get both prints in one!

The fact that it’s a combo print means that my Decoupaged Mason Jar is two-sided! Here is the adorable Hunny Bee side….

I’ve made quite a few projects with her prints, and there are so many more I want to make! This Vintage Heart Pallet was the most recent one that I’ve had a chance to get up on the blog here. The special thing about this Decoupaged Mason Jar project is that I printed the Hunny Bee and Sweat Pea combo onto tissue paper, instead of rice.

Digital Deco Designs printables make for great gifts! This Honey Bee Decoupaged Mason Jar (or a Mason Jar with another one of her prints) would make the perfect Mother’s Day gift. As per usual, Digital Deco Designs saved the day.

Supplies Needed to make Honey Bee Decoupaged Mason Jar

• Sweet Pea Hunny Bee Combo Mini Print from Digital Deco Designs
• Tissue Paper or Rice Paper
• Mason Jar
• White Chalk paint
• Mini Rhinestone Bow from Totally Dazzled
• Mod Podge
• Twine
• Faux Florals of your choice
• Floral foam
• Spouncer
• Hot Glue Gun

How to Decoupage a Mason Jar with a Honey Bee Printable

I made this adorable Honey Bee Decoupaged Mason Jar on video, so you can WATCH the step by step tutorial HERE or by clicking the below pic.

First things first, clean you mason jar with rubbing alcohol to make sure the paint sticks. Then using a spouncer, cover the entire mason jar with white chalk paint. You can use a paint brush too, but the spouncer gives it a bit of texture and you get really nice full coverage in less coats.

Next use a water pen or a wet paint brush to tear out the part of the image(s) that you want to use. Just trace around the image with a tiny bit of water, and tear it away gently. This softens the edges once the print is decoupaged onto the mason jar.

Now we Mod Podge the Hunny Bee and Sweet Pea prints right on! Don’t use too much Mod Podge or will get bubbles and wrinkles, especially with the tissue paper. I did the Hunny Bee on one side….

And the Sweet Pea on the other…

I also cut out some of the smaller images on the print to Mod Podge on the sides. Here is the cute little Bee Hive!

And the Butterfly on the other side!

Now to add some florals. Just hot glue a square of floral foam into the jar, and start arranging your flowers how you like them.

Finish it off by wrapping some twine around the rim of the jar, and gluing a Totally Dazzled Rhinestone Bow to the front!

Is this not just the CUTEST thing you ever did see!? This would make an excellent Mother’s Day craft, even if you used the same concept with a different print!

Turn pine cones into a beautiful flower bouquet with these painted pine cone flowers. This nature craft would make a stunning DIY gift for Mother’s Day, a birthday, or even just some nature inspired decor. This quick and easy craft is just as much fun for the grown ups as it is for the kids and the best part…these forever flowers will never die on you!

There is a definite theme to this years Mother’s Day crafts and DIY gifts and I totally didn’t do it intentionally ( I mean I totally planned it I swear)……FOREVER FLOWERS.

We have made not one…not two…but three different types this year with three different mediums. We’ve got the nature aspect covered with these painted pine cone flowers, and we went the recycled material route with our Cupcake Liner Carnations and Egg Carton Tulips.

We are huge fans of crafting with pine cones in this house.  We’re lucky enough to live in San Diego where conifers (I think that’s what they are?) are plentiful. I am always picking up the perfect pine cones even though I have so many I can’t craft with them fast enough!.  It’s an addiction really… I need to stop. #PineConesAnonymous

If you are as obsessed as we are, you should check out all of our pine cone crafts and put them to good use! If your not as lucky to have pine cones galore, don’t worry you can buy them at any craft store, Etsy, or good ‘ol Amazon.

If you do decide to craft with them straight from the great outdoors, please please please make sure to clean and prepare them first! That is unless you want to host a sleepover for a family of Daddy Long Legs.  If your not sure how to clean them, you can check out the steps I have used for years to bake the bugs out and as an added bonus, get beautifully bloomed cones!

Supplies Needed to Make Painted Pine Cone Flowers

1. Pine Cones (Store bought or cleaned and prepared)
2. Wooden skewers
3. Washi tape
4. Paint (we used Yellow, Lilac Mist, Aquamarine)
5. Glitter (We chose 3 colors that matched the paint but you can get creative and use any color!)
6. Glue – Hot glue and Mod Podge
7. Some sort of vase or container (ribbon optional)

How to Make Painted Pine Cone Flowers

Follow the below easy steps to craft yourself a Painted Pine Cone Flower Fancy Forever Bouquet (thats a tongue twister)!

Clean and Prepare the Pine Cones for Crafting

If you bought your pine cones, you can skip to the next step. Otherwise, as I mentioned, it is super important to clean the pine cones so that you remove any dirt, debris, and critters. Click the image above to see my step-by-step instructions on how to do this.

Paint Each Pine Cone and Allow to Dry

My only tip for this step is not to use one of your good paint brushes.  If you want to get the color all up in the crevices, your paint brush WILL be pretty jacked up after. I actually have one paint brush dedicated to painting pine cones. You should only need one coat depending on the type of paint/colors you choose, but you could always add a second coat to make them more vibrant. 

Wrap the Wooden Skewers with Washi Tape

Take the tape and starting at the top, wrap it around the wood in a spiral fashion all the way down to the bottom.

Decorate the Top of the Pine Cones With Glitter

Spread Mod Podge generously on the top layers of the pine cone. Sprinkle as much glitter as you’d like to give them a “fancy” decorated look.

Glue the Wooden Skewer to the bottom of the Pine Cone

Apply a very large squirt of hot glue, and hold the skewer in place until the glue is completely hardened.  Then apply another dollop around the base of the skewer where it meets the pine cone to strengthen the hold.  The larger and heavier your pine cone, the more glue you may need.

Arrange in a Vase and Enjoy!

The kids will just love turning their little thumbprints into hearts, and fingerprints into flowers with this glass bead magnet craft. These Kids Thumbprint Heart Magnets are easy to craft and make the perfect keepsake gift for Mother’s Day, Birthdays, Valentines Day, or “Just Because”!

Hand print crafts are the ultimate go-to when it comes to kids Mother’s Day craft projects.  But why not make some thumb and fingerprint crafts too? That’s why we came up with these kids Thumbprint Heart Magnets!

Preserve their cute little prints into a Thumbprint Heart and a Fingerprint Flower with these glass bead magnets. 

This is such a quick and easy project for the kids to make and they will love getting their hands messy in the process! Bonus for Mom? The craft itself isn’t much of a mess at all! In fact we made these AND had them cleaned up in under 30 minutes!

This is a great craft for the kids to make for a Mother’s Day gift, Father’s Day, Birthday, or even for a Teacher.  The best part is you can hang their cute little art projects on the fridge with their very own fingerprints.  Makes for the perfect keepsake gift.

Supplies Needed to Make Glass Bead Magnets

1. Flat Back Glass Beads (Amazon offers the Beads and Magnets in a pack together)
2. White card stock
3. Ceramic magnets
4. Mod Podge
5. Paint – We used Bright Red, Purple Iris, Candy Pink, Real Green (You could also use a rainbow ink pad)
6. Paper plate

You can find the glass beads at most Dollar Trees for well…..$1.  But if you do get them here just make sure to look and pick out a bag that are nice and clear.  Each glass bead is made differently, and if your not careful you’ll get a bag of foggy or cracked ones that don’t make for very nice magnets at all. 

You can get better quality ones at all craft stores, as well as Amazon which I’ve linked to above. Amazon even offers the glass beads and magnets in a pack together (which I wish I had known before making these!).

If you happen to have colored ink pads, you can totally use them instead of paint. We used paint because we already had it in the house and it works just fine as well

How to Make Glass Bead Magnets

Follow these easy steps below to make Finger and Thumbprint keepsake magnets!

Spread the red paint thinly onto a paper plate with your thumb

It’s important that the paint is super thin, to the point it is almost drying or else you will get a big blob instead of a thumbprint.

Make a thumbprint slightly off center on the card stock to make one half of the heart, and repeat for the other half

You may have to make a few prints to get it just right.  We made several to get the amount of paint and how much pressure to apply just right. Just make a bunch of hearts, and then you can pick your favorite to turn into magnets.

Spread the green, pink, purple paint thinly onto a paper plate with your finger

Same as with the red heart, make sure the paint is spread very thinly or you’ll get a big blob. 

Use your pointer finger to to make a green print as the center of the flower.

I’d recommend making several green centers around the paper so that you don’t have to go back and forth between colors.

Make purple/pink finger prints around the center in a circular fashion to form the petals.

Again, I’d recommend making several flowers and then you can choose your favorite to make into magnets.  Allow the paint to fully dry before moving onto the next step, which should only take about 5 minutes.  If you started with the hearts, those will already be dry so you can start with those first.

Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge over the surface of the heart/flower.

You can use a paint brush to do this, or your finger works just fine too.  Just be sure to wash your paint brush right after or the glue will dry and ruin your brush.

Center the glass bead over the top of the heart/flower and apply firm pressure.

Press and hold firmly for about 10 seconds.  You may want to even lift the paper up and press down on the back of the card stock to smooth the paper over the glass bead and to spread the Mod Podge evenly.

Allow them to dry for several hours or overnight.

Don’t worry if the Mod Podge looks white or foggy, it will dry completely clear.

Cut the card stock from around each magnet.

It helps to cut a square around each magnet first, and then trim the extra around in a circle.

Glue the ceramic magnet to the back of the glass bead.

Some of the magnets have a sticky back (mine did), but I would recommend gluing them on anyway.

Congratulations! You’ve made a forever keepsake magnet!

Now you can hang your little’s artwork on the fridge with their little fingers and thumbprints.  These magnets are the perfect keepsake for any Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and they would make a wonderful Teacher gift as well.

Keep the kids entertained and celebrate Mom’s special day at the same time with this free printable Mother’s Day Word Search activity! You can print it out and complete it in preparation for the big day, or you can give it to Mom as a way to say “I Love You”. It’s even heart shaped too!

This printable word search is a great way to show Mom how special she is without even having to leave the house.  The thing that makes this word search extra super special is that the game board is in the shape of a heart!

You can give this completed word search to her as a way to say “I Love You”, or you can fill it out with her as a way to celebrate the day.
