Take a turn from the traditional pink and red Valentines decor with these Neutral LOVE Stacked Hearts. With it’s brown hearts and leopard print, this adorable DIY Valentines decor is cute enough to leave up all year round!

If you know me then you know that I am a colorful girl through and through.

BUT I absolutely do love a good neutral craft now and then. And quite honestly I am obsessed with this brown hearts scrapbook paper that I designed, and I’ve been going on a total craft kick with it!

It’s not just Valentines Day that I got on a neutral kick for, I was on one last fall too and I made this adorable pumpkin and completely neutral tiered tray!

Of course my version of neutral isn’t your average version. Why is that you ask? One word……(actually it’s two…)

• 1 – 12″ Paint Stick
• Small wood pallet
• 2 Jenga Blocks
• Antique Wax
• Excelsior
• Skeleton Keys
• Sola Wood Flowers
• 4 – 3″ Wood Hearts
• Galvanized Metal letters L-O-V-E
• Gold Leaf Rub n’ Buff
• Neutral heart scrapbook paper
• Leopard Print scrapbook paper
• Textured scrapbook paper in brown and creme
• Twine
• Mod Podge
• Hot glue gun

How to Make a Stacked Hearts Neutral Shelf Sitter

First, I took four wood hearts and traced them onto 4 different coordinating pieces of scrapbook paper and then cut them out.

Next, I decoupaged the scrapbook paper hearts onto each of the wood hearts. To decoupage, you add a nice layer of Mod Podge onto the wood heart, and then put the paper on top.

Don’t worry if it’s not exactly lined up because we will sand it in the next step.

Using my Gator Sander (you NEED one of these if you don’t already have one!), I sanded off all the excess paper.

For the base, I stained a wood pallet with Antique Wax by painting it on and wiping the excess off with a baby wipe.

Then I stained one regular 12″ paint stick.

And 2 Dollar Tree Jenga Blocks.

I had these galvanized metal letters, but I wanted them gold so I used my finger to rub on Gold Leaf Rub n’ Buff.

The hearts were a tad thick, and the edges were plain wood, so I decided to Rub n’ Buff the edges of the 4 hearts as well.

To put it together I used hot glue to glue the paint stick down into the slats of the pallet. I used two Jenga blocks to reinforce it, one in front and one in back like you see below.

Then I glued the hearts onto the paint stick in a wonky fashion, overlapping them slightly.

Then glued the L-O-V-E to each of the 4 hearts (I decided to keep the letters straight since the hearts were already wonky).

The base needed a lil’ somethin’ somethin’, so I glued some excelsior on the pallet around the paint stick.

I finished the base off by gluing two cute sola wood flowers, one in front and one behind.

The very last thing I did was tie a skeleton key onto a piece of twine to make a shoestring bow.

I made four of these, one for each heart, and glued them to the top “humps” of the hearts, alternating left/right.

The completed Stacked Neutral Hearts is truly stunnnnninnggggg!! I am ObSESSed with a capital ‘O’!

A wood slatted background, some Dollar Tree Nautical Rope, and some faux flowers make for an easy and affordable Nautical rope heart that is both simple and classy. It’s festive enough for Valentine’s Day but neutral enough for year round decor too!

Simplicity at its finest with this Dollar Tree Nautical Rope Heart!

I originally made this one for Valentines Day, but let’s be real, it could totally be used year round. You cold make the coral stripe ANY color that you want to match your home.

My living room now is all sunflower, and I’m seeing this with a golden yellow stripe and small sunflowers on the heart.

I might just have to make me another one of these!

How to Make a Nautical Rope Heart

This simple and classy project is also easy as pie to make! First, I stained the entire wood background with Antique Wax, and wiped off the excess with a baby wipe.

Then I dry brushed white paint on 3 of the 4 slats, and painted the 4th one a salmon/coral color.

Next, I took a heart shape template that I printed off Google and cut out, and traced a heart onto the surface with Sharpie. I wasn’t worried about the color because I knew the nautical rope would cover it up since it’s thick enough.

Then I glued the nautical rope over the Sharpie heart. You could skip the Sharpie altogether and just glue the heart, but I wanted mine to be “perfect” (no such thing).

Next, I glued some paper flower embellishments along with 2 small pieces of lambs ear to the top left “hump” of the heart.

My background already had a twine hanger, but if yours doesn’t then glue a twine hanger to the top back and you’re done!

How absolutely PRESH is this? It’s a little different vibe from the super colorful Conversation Heart Wreath I just made, but I love it just as much!

Valentines Day crafts and decor don’t always have to be pink or red, you can make cute and fun heart decor that has all the colors of the rainbow, like this Rainbow Mixed Media Heart! You can even display this one all year round in your craft room like I do!

If you’re new around here then WELCOME! I’m Amanda, AKA “Manda”, and I am obsessed with all the colors of the rainbow.

So when it comes to Valentines Day, I don’t always stick to the traditional red and pink, I swing to the wild side and do lots of different colors of the rainbow!

Last year I made a super cute Stuffed Hearts Bouquet with Pink, yellow, green, blue, and purple, but this one I used ALLLL the colors with pink AND red.

And I couldn’t be more happy with how it turned out!

If you aren’t as much of a color fanatic as me, you could totes make this using all mini red or pink hearts, or even red AND pink hearts to be more of a traditional Valentines DIY.

But I actually made this for my craft room, so it’s not technically Valentines at all, and it’s staying up year round.

Supplies Needed to Make a Rainbow Mixed Media Heart

• Wood Background (I used the back of a Dollar Tree sign)
• Various scrapbook paper
• Black paint pen or Sharpie
• Animal print stencils
• Paint: White and Black
• Tim Holtz Distressed Ink in Black Soot
• Acrylic alphabet stamp set
• Black and White Bakers Twine
• Mod Podge
• Hot glue gun

How to Make a Rainbow Mixed Media Heart

The best way to see how I do this background is to watch the LIVE replay, but basically I ripped up a bunch of black and white colored scrapbook paper into about 2-3″ chunks and then Mod Podged it to the wood board in a patchwork style. If any was hanging over the edge I just sanded it off with my sanding block.

I then smeared white paint over it with a pallet knife so that you could sort of see the scrapbook paper through some of it.

After that I used my Tim Holtz ink and a spouncer to stencil on the different animal prints in small sections around the board.

I then used a large heart template and used that to outline the shape of the heart onto the background using small black dashed lines.

Once I had the outline of the heart, I Mod Pod Podged a ton of smaller colored hearts onto the center. I did this in strips of colors, in the order of the rainbow from left to right.

I used my Cricut to cut a ton of different size and colored hearts, but you could totally cut them out by hand it would just be way more time consuming.

Then I ripped small pieces of Muslin and stamped them with “Love”, “U”, “to”, “Pieces” on each one.

I glued them to the right side on the heart so that the read vertically from top to bottom, and then added black dash marks with my black pain pen.

I finished it off by adding a black and white bakers twine hanger. There were already holes at the top from where the Dollar Tree twine hanger was, so I just used those holes to string the bakers twine through.

How fun, unique, and creative is this Rainbow Mixed Media Heart!? I am so in LOVE, no pun intended!

How darn cute does this look with my Tiered Tray and the Stuffed Heart Bouquet on top!? Perfect for Valentines Day, but I keep this one up in my craft room all year! (It’s rainbow theme)

Dollar Tree Pink Heart Valentines Day Treat Bags are not just for treats! They make the perfect craft supplies for a DIY banner! Make a cute piece of decor for your mantle or bookcase using these affordable little fabric gift bags.

I’m sure you’ve seen these super cute Treat Bags that Dollar Tree makes, right? I’ve seen Valentines ones and Easter ones, but I bet they make them for other occasions too.

At this point I’ve actually made THREE of these banners! Two Valentines ones…….this one in this blog post that I made last year with the pink hearts, and then I made one this year with the red xoxo treat bags.

I also made an Easter Bunny one last year for a total of THREE treat bag banners! Can we say obsessed?

Let’s talk about the pink heart banner and show you how I did it!

Supplies Needed to Make a Dollar Tree Valentines Day Treat Bag Banner

• Valentines Treat Bags (Pack of 3 from Dollar Tree – the ones pictured above are the XOXO red ones, but I used the pink heart ones)
• 4 wood hearts (3″)
• 2 coordinating pieces of Scrapbook paper
• Twine
• Several coordinating strips of ribbon and/or fabric
• Lace
• Mod Podge
• Hot glue gun

How to Make a Dollar Tree Valentines Day Treat Bag Banner

Prepare your treat bags by cutting off the ties, and then gluing them shut (you don’t HAVE to glue them shut but I did).

Then glue a strip of ribbon across the top of each. I used pink and red lips ribbon.

Next, trace your wood hearts onto your chosen scrapbook paper, cut them out, and then Mod Podge them to each of the hearts.

I did two of the hearts with this pink and black leopard paper…

And two of them with this black and white striped glitter paper…

Now glue the treat bags and the hearts across a piece of twine, leaving enough room in between each one to tie the fabric/ribbon. I left about 2-3″.

Here is the pattern that I glued the items on–> Pink Leopard Heart – Treat Bag – Black Striped Heart – Treat Bag – Pink Leopard Heart – Treat Bag – Black Striped Heart.

Next, cut or rip strips of fabric and/or ribbon about 5″ long. Then tie them in a know around the twine in between each heart/treat bag.

I added in some strips of lace as well. It was a tad hard to tie but it worked.

That’s it, that’s all! Here she is all done!

This would look adorable on a mantle or a bookshelf, or even across a Valentines Coffee Bar if you have one.

Here it is hung up in my old apartment with alllllllll of my other Valentines crafts I made. How cure is that Pink Buffalo Check Heart and the Black and White Striped Layered Heart Frame?!

One look at this Faux Galvanized Metal Heart Tree and you will be shocked that it’s made of recycled cardboard! This copycat decor was created to look like just like the Hobby Lobby piece, but for a fraction of the cost. I know this faux metal tree is in anyones budget! Grab those Amazon boxes, and let’s get to crafting!

Welcome to our very first episode of “Copycat or Floppycat”, where you send me photos of decor and items that you see in stores or online, and I try to make it on a budget!

This is our very first one and it was sent to me by Amy Hughes and it was $39.99 from Hobby Lobby. Guess how much I made it for? FREE!

Yup! I made this bad boy with cardboard and other things I had at home! If you had NOTHING already to make this, it would still cost you under $5 to make.

After I remake the item that was sent to me live over on my Facebook page, you all vote whether it was a Success (Copycat), or if it was a flop (Floppycat). Hence the name of the series…Copycat or Floppycat!

This was so much fun, and it was definitely a challenge. I take these things very seriously and get really into making it look as much like the original as possible. So what do you think? I’ll tell you one thing, it looks uh-maz-ing on my Sunflower Gallery Wall!

Supplies Needed to Make a Faux Metal Heart Tree

• Cardboard
• Antique Wax or Stain
• Paint: Brown, Black, White, Metallic Silver
• Sticks from outside
• Rust effect Paste (you can use cinnamon and Mod Podge)
• Popsicle sticks
• Tree Trunk Template (I made this and posted it on FB)
• Hot glue gun

How to Make a Faux Metal Heart Tree

Start by tracing out the shape of the tree trunk on a large piece of cardboard, and cutting it out.

I free handed this by looking at the photo, but I traced it and made a template for you all and you can get that from the Facebook post here. All you do is print the photos out full size, cut them out, tape them together and voila. Template!

Then, cut 17 hearts out of corrugated cardboard (you can get a template on Google), some bigger and some a tad smaller, but all pretty similar in size. A tip to separate the corrugated part from the rest is to spray the top of the cardboard with water, and then let is sit and soak in for about 3 minutes. The top part should peel right off and leave you with the clean corrugated part.

Painting the hearts to look like metal seems hard but its really very easy! First paint them all silver. Then take a stiff brush or spouncer and sporadically dab white all over it. Do the same thing even more lightly with black. Keep layering it by dabbing more white, then black as you go until you get the look you like.

Always start by going super lightly with the white and black since it’s much easier to add more than it is to take it off, but if you do use too much thats ok! Just go back over it with some silver/grey.

Next, use the rust effect paste and dab it around the outer edge of each heart, starting with the brown and going over it very lightly with the orange. If you don’t have the paste, you can achieve a similar faux rust look using brown paint, cinnamon, and Mod Podge.

Now for our tree trunk! Paint the entire thing all brown first. The horizontally dry brush some white, and then some black until it begins to look like wood.

Again, start lightly with the dry brushing and add to it from there.

Time to put it all together! Start gluing the hearts on one by one. I looked at the photo and copied the placement of each one the best that I could. Use sticks outside to connect that hearts that go outwards on the branches.

You can see below how I used a stick to connect 3 of them.

Here is what it looks like from the back, to give you a better idea of how to attach the hearts.

Then, glue a couple of popsicle sticks to reinforce the cardboard, just in case so that it doesn’t bend.

Don’t give away those blue jeans that no longer fit, they make excellent free craft supplies. Instead, you can make this adorable DIY Jeans Pocket Heart Sign to add to your Valentines Day decor!

I don’t know why, but crafting is just so much more fun when you do it with unlikely random supplies and materials. Like a jean pocket from pants that no longer fit you!

If you are anything like me, then the pandemic left a lasting impression on your hips, and even though it’s been over, the extra 10lbs has remained!

Well rather than donating my (pre) fave jeans to Goodwill, I decided to do what any good crafter would do…..I turned them into a craft!

This Jeans Pocket Heart Sign is the best way to commemorate my skinnier days LOL!

Maybe you are luckier then me and don’t have jeans that are too tight. Maybe you are on the other end of the spectrum and can congratulate yourself by cutting up those jeans that are now too BIG! Either way, let’s get crafty for Valentines Day!

• Jean pocket
• Dollar Tree surface
• Wood heart cutout

• Foam or cardboard
• Mod Podge
• Hot glue gun

How to Make a Jeans Pocket Heart Sign

Let’s start off by cutting the pocket out of your jeans. Once you cut it out, fray the edges a bit with your fingers to give it a frayed look so it’s not so straight edged.

Next cut your pink and grey “faux wood” scrapbook paper and Mop Podge it to the background of your frame. I originally left the frame unpainted, but decided on the Teal after I finished the project, the next day.

Glue your jeans pocket to your surface, and then prepare your wood heart.

I painted mine pretty pink, and added a small shoestring buffalo check bow to the top.

Next, I cut out a bunch of different hearts from scrapbook paper, burlap, and lacy burlap and then Mod Podged them to cardstock for some stability. You can get free heart shape templates to trace on Google, just search “free heart shape”.

Then glue them to the the surface so that they look like they are floating up out of the jean pocket. Use some foam or cardboard squares glued to the back of some of them as risers so that they are raised up off of the surface and give it dimension.

Here it is all done, before I decided to paint the frame teal.

Doesn’t the teal look sooooo much better? It really brings out the color in that floral scrapbook paper and makes it POP.

I added a simple pink and white bakers twine hanger and used the original holes to tie the string through and hang it.

I am so in love with this Jeans Pocket Valentines Heart Sign! You could do it in any color or theme that you like. Stick with traditional red Valentines Day, or fun pink, or go on the wild side like me!

I think it looks just darling with the Kraft Paper Hearts that we made Live over on Facebook!

If you’re looking for some cute Heart decor that you can DIY this Valentines Day without breaking the bank, these Kraft Paper Hearts are just what you need! These easy to make hearts are small enough for a tiered tray, but large enough to stand on their own. Either way they’ll make you feel the Love in the air!

Ever since I made these Kraft Paper Candy Corns, I have been thinking up all sorts of other things I can make. I made Kraft Paper Ghosts and now these Kraft Paper Hearts!

Kraft Paper is KING! (Actually #CardboardIsKing)

I mean, c’mon…..Kraft paper crafts are THE most affordable thing ever. And they are Oh So Cute too.

I think this project cost me about $1 total to make, and that is rounding up and being generous! If you’re a die hard crafter you probably already have all of the supplies to make this in your stash.

So it’s technically free! And if not, then get you some Kraft Paper from Amazon, because after making these Kraft Paper Hearts you are gonna want to Kraft paper *all the things*.

How to Make a Kraft Paper Hearts

Are you ready for these ultra complicated instructions? LOL!

First, trace a heart shape onto Kraft paper, and cut out 2 identical hearts. I used 3 different sized templates that I found from A Crafty Life.

You’ll need 2 hearts for each one, so if you are doing exactly like mine you’ll need 2 small for the red, 2 medium size for the purple, and 2 large for the pink (you can just print the heart smaller/larger then the original).

Paint your kraft paper each respective color. After it’s dry, crumple it up and smooth it out to make it look more worn and malleable.

Next, glue the hearts together with hot glue around the outer rim, leaving about 3 inches gap so that you can stuff it with more Kraft paper.

Crumple up the Kraft paper and stuff it inside, little by little, and then glue the heart shut. You could also use Polyfil or even plastic bags.

Brush antique wax all over the hearts, to give it a more distressed grungy look.

Now it’s time to embellish! For the red one, I wrapped twine around heart and then finished with a small silk rose.

For the pink purple I tied raffia with a raffia bow around the heart rather than twine.

Then I made 2 patches with muslin and and my acrylic stamp set, that say “love”. I glued one to the top left of the purple heart.

And the other “love” I made into a hangtag for the pink heart.

Add as many or as few silk flowers to the other hearts as you like.

I think they look just darling with the Pink Ombre XOXO Sign that we made Live over on Facebook!

Vintage and roses and crowns….Oh MY! This Glamentine Dollar Tree Chunky Valentine Heart craft is the perfect combination of sassy and sweet. Made with a gorgeous crafty printable, it’s the perfect addition to your romantic Valentine’s tiered tray!

I typically craft with super bright cheery vibrant colors, but every now and then I love a good soft vintage-y vibe, and you can thank Cathy from Digital Deco Designs for that!

The print that I used in this project is called Glamentine, and I think I like the name just as much as the print itself! This one was printed and shipped to me, but you can get a digital subscription to download and print at home too. The super uh-maz-ing thing about her prints are that they are done on RICE PAPER! Say Whhaaaaaaaat!?

If you love this Vintage look for Valentine’s, you’ll probably love the Vintage Pallet Board I made with a different print, that you can see next to the chunky heart below.

I actually used the leftover scraps of this paper for another cute Valentines project so it didn’t go to waste! And of course if you can’t or don’t want to use the printable, scrapbook paper works amazing for this project too! You can see scrap project with the chunky heart in the pic below.

• White paint
• Mod Podge

How to Make a Glamentine Dollar Tree Chunky Heart

I made this gorgeous Vintage Dollar Tree Chunky Heart on video, so you can WATCH the step by step tutorial on HERE.

Start off by painting the entire Dollar Tree chunky heart all white.

Then trace the heart onto the rice paper Glamentine print, and cut it out and Mod Podge it to the front of the heart.

Take your twine, and glue the end to the back of the heart, and then wrap it around and around your heart, spreading it out on the left hand side like you see below. You may need a dab of hot glue to keep it in place, but I found if you wrap it tight enough it stays in place without it.

Make a twine circular loopy “bow” by wrapping your twine around 3 or 4 fingers several times until you have bundle, then pinching it in the middle and tying a piece of twine around the center so you are left with an “8” shape. Make 2 of those and then glue them together and spread out the loops.

Glue your “bow” to the bottom right of the heart, and add a glitter heart on top.

Nothing says “I Love You” like a DIY bouquet of flowers, I mean…Stuffed Fabric Hearts for Valentines Day! This adorable decor is made to look like Conversation Heart candy with the Dollar Tree colored fabric and cute sayings like “XOXO” and “Be Mine”!

This Stuffed Fabric Heart Bouquet is one of my fave crafts that we’ve done in my private VIP crafting group, The CRafterparty!

I think the best part about this one is that it can literally be made in any style imaginable. Primitive vibe? Yup! Farmhouse? Sure! Traditional red hearts? Absolutely!

Of course, I decided to go the rainbow route. Well, conversation heart theme technically, but let’s face it…it’s rainbow!

The colorful tye-dye fabric is from Dollar Tree and I am absolutely obsessed with it. I haven’t even used it all and I already want to buy more.

Learn to make this Stuffed Fabric Heart Bouquet for Valentines Day

When creating your own unique creations I encourage you to think outside of the box! Use what you see simply as inspiration to make it your own. Here’s the Dollar Tree fabric on the roll, see it’s almost a Tye-Dye look to it right? Every color but the blue was sent to me in Happy Mail, and I searched every Dollar Tree high and low for the blue to complete my set. Now I have every color!

I used an old candle jar as the “vase” but you could use a mason jar as well. I decided it was a little too plain so added this rainbow leaf trim to the bottom to jazz it up.

You could use spanish moss to cover the top, or excelsior like I used here. I prefer the color of the excelsior for this particular project.

It wouldn’t be a Manda Panda Project without a beautiful big messy rainbow bow.

Even though the fabric is a tad on the bright side to be conversation hearts, I still added the cute little sayings on each one so that you can tell they are conversation heart themed.

They say “luv u”, “xoxo”, “hug me”, “kiss me”, “be mine” and I messed up and made and extra saying so the back of the yellow one also says “ur cute”. A happy mistake!

Hands down my FAVE project (at least my fave project in The CRafterparty) that we made for Valentines Day. This has officially started my love for the conversation heart theme that I fully anticipate will take over all of my Valentines crafts and decor for the remainder of this year LOL!

Love is in the Air with this Pink Ombre XOXO sign that you can make for your Valentines Day Decor for just a few dollars. The tulle, the hearts, the pink and the XOXO come together to make the perfect DIY decor this Valentines season.

I love me a good Ombre craft, but this one is not technically ombre. Well it is, but it’s cheater ombre since you don’t have to do any actual blending of the color pinks. Just a lot of mixing.

But this Pink Ombre XOXO Sign is still pretty bomb dot comb, I’m not gonna lie.

And can we talk about that tulle around the XOXO?! Can you say “ballerina vibes”!? Lovin’ it!

Supplies Needed to Make a Pink Ombre XOXO Sign

• Wood and galvanized metal XOXO
• 8″ Wood Shims
• Pink paint
• White paint
• Pink glitter tulle
• White tulle
• Pink heart embellishments
• Cardboard or foam board
• Hot glue gun

How to Make a Pink Ombre XOXO Sign

As I already said, this is the cheat way of doing ombre since we don’t have to do any actual blending, but were going to start by painting all 9 shims, each one a lighter shade of pink the the previous one.

The best way to do this is to put a bunch of your darkest pink on a plate, and then keep adding a little but of white as you paint each shim. So you paint your first one dark pink, then mix in some white and paint your next one. Then mix in some more white paint and paint your next one. And so on….

Let me say, you will need LESS pink paint to start than you think. Because you are going to be adding a bunch of white paint, you will end up with a bunch of extra paint if you start with too much so beware.

Now glue your shims to a rectangle of cardboard or foam board, making sure to keep them in descending order and to alternate the shims thick end/thin end.

This next part is a tad hard to explain, so you will definitely want to watch the replay to SEE how I did it. But I’ll try!

Cut strips of tulle about 3″ long. Then bunch them up and glue each strip around the back of the XOXO, so that you get a sort of “tutu” around the word. It’s a little time consuming, but super easy to to do!

Glue the XOXO word to the front of your pink ombre shim background.

Glue a couple of pink heart embellishments to the center of each of the “O’s .

I didn’t add a hanger, since I will use it more as a leaner but you could totally add one if you want. Maybe I’ll add one at a later time, I don’t know we’ll see!
