Corrugated Cardboard Bunny with Fabric Bow

You’ll never look at cardboard the same after seeing this fun Corrugated Cardboard Bunny with a big beautiful messy fabric bow! The perfect addition to your DIY spring and Easter decor!

If you have been around for any length of time, you know that I like Big Bows and I cannot lie! Specifically FABRIC bows!

And for this project, the bow is the star of the show! I’m working with FabricWholesaleDirect.com to bring you the cutest little bunny, with the cutest fabric bow!

Given how much I love my bows, of course I said YES when FabricWholesaleDirect.com reached out to work with me.

Since it’s February, and it will be springtime before we know it, I was on the hunt for springy type fabric to make this bunny. They supplied me with the fabric of my choice, and I went with Yellow Gingham and Yellow Floral Meadow for my bow, and Victoria Stretch Lace in “Nude” for the bunnies inner ear.

In addition to this project, I even used the lace as a sort of table cover for my picture staging table. How GORG is this lace?

Now of course I chose a typical cotton type fabric for my bow, but I was THOROUGHLY impressed with both their linen and upholstery selections too. When I have the time to take on some bigger projects that require either of these, FactoryWholesaleDirect.com will definitely be my go to for those!

How to Make a Corrugated Cardboard Bunny

First things first, we have to “corrugate” our cardboard. Yes, you can buy it pre-corrugated, but I know a hack that makes it so easy you won’t have to waste your money. All you do is spray it with a nice good coat of water, rub it into the cardboard, and let it sit for about 2 minutes.

Then, you’ll be able to peel the top layer of the cardboard right off like you see in the picture below.

Now our cardboard is ready to be made into a bunny! If you’re thinking “but I can’t hand draw a bunny Amanda”, don’t worry, I got you gurlllllll.

I have a bunny template that I drew for you that you can save and print. Just press and hold the pic below if you’re on mobile (right click and “save image” if on computer), save to your device, and print it out.

Trace the chubby bunny template onto your corrugated cardboard.

Cut your corrugated cardboard bunny out.

For the inner ears, I made myself a template by drawing the inside portion and cutting that out. You can do this, or you can freehand draw the inner ears.

Then trace your “inner ear” template onto the Victoria Stretch Lace from FactoryDirectWholesale.com, and cut that out.

Next, we have to prep our surface. I decided to do mine “chippy”, but you could skip this and paint it plain white if you like.

To “chippy” it, rub the surface with candle wax. The more wax you rub on, the more it will “chip”.

Paint the entire wood surface all white, right over the top of the wax.

After it’s completely dry, “chip” it using a sanding sponge. You can also use a paint scraper for a heavier chipped look. I wanted mine to be more lightly distressed, so I stuck with the sanding sponge.

Next, I did a little bit of distressing to the bunny and the surface using my Kilz Dark Wax. This is another step you could skip if you wanted to, but I like to add it to give it some depth and dimension.

I like to use a finger dauber to rub the dark wax all around the edges of the cardboard bunny.

And all around the edges of the wood plaque surface.

Next, paint your wood eyeglasses a Teal color. This will coordinate with the fabric we are using in the bow.

Paint the small wood heart nose with a light pink color. I added a bit of the dark wax to the glasses and nose as well.

For the whiskers, take a paint brush and wrap the rustic floral wire around it to give it a curly look. You will need 6 of these total, about 4″ long.

Now for my FAVE part…the messy fabric bow! You can make a bow out of fabric, ribbon, or a combination of the two. But as soon as I got this fabric from FabricWholesaleDirect.com, I knew right away it was going to make the perfect bow for this little corrugated cardboard bunny!

I like to rip my fabric into strips, by cutting a small slit at the end and then tearing it straight down.

For this bow, I made my strips about a half inch wide.

I use three different patterns for this bow, a yellow gingham from FabricWholesaleDirect.com…….

A yellow “floral meadow” with purple and teal flowers from FactoryDirectWholesale.com….

And a teal with white polka dots from my stash.

I used my Bowdabra to make my messy fabric bow, but you totally don’t NEED a bow maker, you can make any type of bow you want.

To use the bowdabra, you just layer the strips of ribbon in a bow formation, one after the other (make sure to put a piece of twine in first). I started with my floral meadow.

Then added the yellow gingham.

Then the teal polka dot.

After doing several layers, you just tie your bow off with the twine.

Now let’s put this lil’ bunny together!

Attach your lace to the inner ears using Mod Podge.

Then hot glue the floral wire whiskers under the pink heart nose, and the wood eyeglasses on top.

I made one other small shoestring bow with the Floral Meadow fabric and hot glued that to the bottom of the bunnies ears for extra cuteness.

For some extra embellishments, paint a teal flower, a purple butterfly, and a yellow/purple HOP from Dollar Tree.

Next, hot glue the entire corrugated bunny to the wood plaque, just off to the right hand side.

Then glue the bow to the top left side, with a teal wood flower in the center.

Glue the butterfly to the top of the bunnies right ear.

Glue the yellow flower off to the right side of the glasses.

And last but not least, glue the HOP over to the left side of the bunny.

Here she is in all her glory!

Spooky Halloween Clothespin Napkin Wreath

I’m bringing back the Clothespin Wreath for Halloween, but this time in a different way! And pink! Make a cute, fun and easy DIY with cardboard, a napkin, and a Dollar Tree Spooky Ghost cutout. This is a clothespin wreath like you’ve never seen before!

Clothespins wreaths were sooooo popular for sooooo long, but they kind of faded out a few years back. Well, I am reviving it this year, but in a different way…..

With cardboard! So no need to even buy a wire wreath form to make this one.

You could make this with ANY napkin and any embellishments you want. It of course doesn’t have to be pink Halloween like mine, you could even make a Fall or Christmas clothespin wreath too.

How to Make a Spooky Halloween Clothespin Napkin Wreath

First thing I did was trace two bowls onto a piece of cardboard. One just a bit bigger than the other, to make a donut shape. The donut is about 2 inches thick.

Next, I cut the donut shape out with a good box cutter.

Then, I painted the entire cardboard donut all black.

Now for the clothespins. I took my napkin and separated the plys to get it down to one ply.

I then used Mod Podge to decoupage the napkin to the top of the clothespins. I did a total of 18 decoupaged clothespins. The fastest way was to stick them all down to the napkin next to each other in a row, and then use scissors and cut them apart, rather them do them one at a time.

I used my gator sander to sand all the excess napkin from the clothespins.

I wanted to add a bit more color in and pull the purple from the napkins, so I painted 3 clothespins purple.

I also used 3 white clothespins, but I had them spray painted and left over from a previous project, so I didn’t have to paint them for this project.

For the Dollar Tree Spooky Ghost cutout, I painted the ghost white and the “Spooky” pink (color is Apple Barrel “Fruit Punch” mixed with “Pure pink”).

The white on the clothespins and the ghost was TOO white, so I distressed it a bit with my Tim Holtz Distressed Ink by rubbing it lightly on the edges.

Now for the hanger, I looped a piece of buffalo check ribbon around the top of the donut, and then glued the edges together.

I realized I wouldn’t be able to actually hang it this way, so I then added a small black bakers twine loop to the top, and that worked out great!

To make it all pretty I made a simple buffalo check bow and glued that to the top of the hanger.

Let’s put it all together! I started clipping the clothespins around the donut in the following pattern: 3 Decoupaged napkin, 1 white, 3 decoupaged napkin, 1 purple, and then repeat.

I put on the finishing touch by gluing the Spooky Ghost to the front and center of the clothespin wreath.

Here’s what it looks like from the back.

Here she is in all her glory! AHHH Oh em gee I am so in LOVE with this one! It looks so fab with my Dollar Tree BOO Ghost I made too.

Cardboard Bumblebee Door Hanger

Let’s create some BUZZ around this budget friendly version of a very expensive Bumblebee Door Hanger. The secret to this adorable copycat summer DIY decor is one thing that I bet you have at home….CARDBOARD!

I do a LIVE crafting series over on good ole’ Facebook called Copycat or Floppycat. This is where people send me pics of things they love that they see either online or in stores, and I see if I can make a copycat version for cheaper.

After I make it everyone votes on whether they think I did a good job (copycat), or if it was a FLOP (Floppycat)!

For this one we re-made the VERY expensive Bumblebee Door Hanger that was found on Etsy for $115 (pic below). I was able to make it with CARDBOARD and other supplies from my stash. (This screenshot was sent to me from one of my crafty friends, so I do not have the original Etsy stores name)

Let me just say, I am ALLL about supporting other crafters and small business owners on Etsy, but there is also absolutely NOTHING wrong with making something yourself for cheaper if you can. I think it WOULD be wrong, however, to go and sell it on Etsy. Jus’ Sayin’

If you had to go and buy the things to make this one, I’d say it would cost you about $5-10 ! All ya need is cardboard (free), paint, fabric for bow, pipe cleaners, and some nautical rope. If you wanna get real fancy like me you can cover your cardboard in canvas for an extra $1.

Bada bing, bada BOOM. Copycat success!

How to Make a Bumblebee Door Hanger out of Cardboard

I made this Bumblebee Door Hanger over a two part video. So you can WATCH the tutorial by clicking below.

Let me start by saying that since this was done on a TWO PART Facebook Live, I do NOT have step by step photos of the process, so if you want to learn to actually make this step by step, I recommend watching Part ONE and Part TWO for the full tutorial.

Otherwise, read below to get inspired and get the overall idea for what I did!

First, I do have a template for you to make it super easy. All you do is save the below two photos to your phone, and then print them and cut them out to use as tracers on your cardboard.

Here is a template for the Bumblebees head and wings.

Here is a template for the Bees body (fun fact: it’s actually a lemon wood cutout!)

Once you have the cardboard all cut out, you are going to cover the cardboard with a layer of canvas. Yes, canvas like the white stretch canvas that you get at Dollar Tree. Just take the canvas off and then trace the same shapes and Mod Podge them to your cardboard.

This will really ELEVATE your project so that it doesn’t actually LOOK like it was made with cardboard. It will also stop your cardboard from warping when you start to paint it.

Now, paint your bee head black and your bee body all yellow. Then, paint black stripes onto the yellow body. Don’t worry about the stripes being perfect, as you can see mine are not at all.

Then, paint your wings with a light khaki tan color, and add black polka dots with a large spouncer.

Once everything is painted, glue the head to the top of the body and glue the wings to the side of the body, behind it like you see below.

To give it a more finished look, I used hot glue to line the entire head, wings, and body with jute rope. Don’t worry about the rope on the top sides of the body and the bottom of the head, because thats where the big ole’ bow will go so you won’t see it.

Now for the details and the bow! Glue two pipe cleaners to the top of the bumblebee head as antennas, and glue a small black craft pom pom to the end of each. Curl them outwards to make them more antenna-esque.

For the bow, I ripped up a ton of coordinating yellow, black and white fabric into 1″-1.5″ strips that were about 20 ” long and then made a messy bow with my Bowdabra.

You can make any type of bow you want, as long as it is BIG and beautiful! The bigger the better because I like big bows and I cannot lie! Add a paper flower embellishment to the center of the bow, or you could also add a large button or regular flower head as well.

Glue some faux sunflowers and white flowers coming out of the bow on the top right, and on the bottom left, to give the bow even more UMPH. I just kind of tucked them about halfway down the bow, and secured them with hot glue

And here she (or he) is in all their glory! I am calling it a HE, I think this one is more of a KING bee, don’t ya think?

This is such a fabulous alternative to paying over $100 for one on Etsy. If you have it in the budget and don’t want to make it, then by all means buy away, but if your on a budget like ya girl here is, then get yourself some cardboard (ahem Amazon boxes) and get to crafting.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without a DIY Hanging Stocking to go along with our mittens! With vintage Santa scrapbook paper, some faux fur, a bow, and a “Joy” hangtag, this is one budget friendly Christmas craft you are definitely gonna want to add to your crafty to-do list this Holiday Season!

Would you believe me if I told you that this DIY Christmas Stocking was made from CARDBOARD?!

When you make things out of cardboard, you most likely will need a template, unless you are good at hand drawing things (I am NOT). In The CRafterparty, I always provide a printable paper template with anything that we make out of cardboard, just like this stocking template you see below.

It’s amazing what you can do with cardboard! Once this DIY Christmas Stocking is all made, you’d have no idea it started as the cardboard stocking you see below.

We added some Vintage Santa scrapbook paper, burlap and fabric patches, and excelsior at the heel.

We added grungy faux fur to the top of the stocking, and made a messy fabric bow to go on the top.

Of course we had to add a cute “JOY” hangtag with a rusty bell for good measure.

I am IN love, obsessed, *all the things* with this adorable DIY Hanging Christmas Stocking!

You can barely see it off to the right, but how cute does it look with that Coffee Can Snowman we made in the group as well?

We made both Cardboard Christmas Mittens identical, except one of them has a vintage gold Christmas ornament hanging from the cuff……

And one has a Kraft paper “Merry” hangtag.

We made a grungy furry cuff to give it an antiqued vintage-y vibe to go along with the Vintage Santa scrapbook paper, and stuck some greenery and berries out of the top of each mitten cuff.

Of course we had to add a cute messy fabric bow with excelsior to each hanging mitten!

How cute does it look with that Dollar Tree Half Wood Snowman we made last year for our Countdown to Craftmas?!

I’ve made Foam Dice Snowmen, Rustic Wood Round Snowmen, and Stacked Wooden Snowmen. But this is my first time making a Coffee Can Snowman!

I don’t think I am that great at hand painting anything, especially faces. But with the techniques I teach in The CRafterparty, I make it super easy for ANYONE to do, and break it down step by step.

Of course I had to add some cute extra details like this “Feeling Frosty” kraft paper hang tag and snowflake.

You could definitely buy large pom poms, but we made our own using yarn and a pom pom maker! You can use cardboard to make your own pom poms too, super easy.

All together I think this Coffee Can Snowman is fabulous, and to think that I was going to through that coffee can out!

Happy Fall Twine Pumpkin Sign

Rustic and pumpkin is a match made in crafty DIY decor heaven. This Happy Fall Twine Pumpkin sign is all that and more! And it uses recycled cardboard so it can be made on a budget too. Craft decor Win-Win!

I just looooovvveeeeee a good Rustic Charm in my decor. Especially my Fall stuff! The vibe it brings is….*chefs kiss*

This Twine Pumpkin sign gives you all the rustic #FallFeels, doesn’t it?

Of course, I had to give it the Manda Panda touch by adding the leopard print. If there is a way to work leopard in, I’ll find it.

It’s the perfect compliment to the Tin Can Pumpkin and the Patchwork Pumpkin as well.

How to Make a Twine Pumpkin Sign

I made this Twine Pumpkin Sign on video. So you can WATCH the tutorial by clicking below.

Start by bracing together 5 wooden shims, making sure to alternate them thick end/thin end like you see below.

I used several jumbo popsicle sticks and glued them across the back to brace them together.

Next, stain the entire wood shim background with Antique Wax and then paint it white using the “chippy method”.

There are a few different ways to do this, but for this project I used Vaseline. Basically you lightly rub Vaseline in random spots on the surface, and then paint the white over the top of it. Once dry, you take a paint scraper and “chip” the paint off the spots that had Vaseline.

You can SEE exactly how I do this in the video replay, or you can go to THIS post where I describe the process in detail.

For the pumpkin, I freehand drew a 4″ pumpkin onto a piece of cardboard, and cut it out. It doesn’t have to be perfect! Once we add the twine you won’t be able to tell at all.

Then wrap the entire cardboard pumpkin with twine, until you can no longer see the cardboard. You may have to add dabs of glue along the way to keep it in place.

If you’re worried you’ll see the cardboard through the twine you can paint it orange first, but you definitely don’t have to.

Paint the entire Twine Pumpkin orange. I brushed it on lightly rather then completely saturating it to give it that rustic charm.

Glue on some sticks as the “stem” and add a bit of faux greenery, a small burlap ribbon bow, and some raffia for decoration.

For the “HAPPY FALL” I used Scrabble tile letters, but you could use any letters that you have like wood or galvanized metal. You could even cut it out of Vinyl with your cricut.

I store my Scrabble Tiles in this plastic jewelry organizer to make it super easy to find the letter that I need.

Glue a strip of frayed burlap across the bottom under the Twine Pumpkin, and then glue on your HAPPY FALL letters.

Finish it off by making a wood bead hanger with twine. I alternated stained wood beads with leopard print. In the middle I put two stained beads together so that it hangs even on each side (can we say OCD?).

Glue the hanger to the back, and secure with a piece of a popsicle stick over each end to help keep it in place (see the photo of the back of the project from the first step).

I just love how this Rustic Happy Fall Twine Pumpkin Sign turned out!

It’s perfect for a traditional rustic fall vibe, and it looks super aborbs with the Reversible Scarecrow (and snowman!) that we made in my subscription group, The CRafterparty!

Farmhouse Cow Head Decor

This may not be your traditional Farmhouse Cow Head Decor, given that it has leopard print spots and all, but it sure is cute! Plus, it’s made with recycled cardboard so it can be made on a budget too! DIY Home decor at it’s finest.

This adorable Farmhouse Cow Head is one of my very crafts that we made in my VIP Subscription Craft Group, The CRafterparty.

Of course this isn’t your traditional Farmhouse Cow Head, but if you know me at all then you know what I am not your traditional crafty girl. AT ALL.

If I can find a way to work in the Lisa Frank Rainbow, Sunflowers, or Leopard Print into my crafts, then I absolutely will!

That is exactly what I did here with this Farmhouse Cow Head Decor!

I’m not much of a farmhouse crafter or decorator, so when I do swing that way I give it a more fun and whimsy vibe, as you can see.

Never underestimate the power of Google when looking for Templates for things. For this project, since I didn’t have a wood cutout of a Cow Head I took to Google to search ‘Free Cow Head Template” and found this one to use with cardboard.

The trick to elevate the look of the cardboard, is to cover it with canvas material. It really takes it up a notch and you would never know your Cow Head isn’t real wood!

I used leopard print felt for the spots, because I happened to have it. But you could totally use scrapbook paper, or even fabric.

Of course we had to have a cute bow with some boxwood greenery and a sunflower.

It was a tough choice with what to write on the Cows ear tag, but I went with “Got Milk” instead of “Moooooo”. Besides my awful handwriting, I think “Got Milk” is cute!

I’ve got a ton of these square wood beads from the Dollar Tree garlands, so I decided to mix it up for the hanger rather then the traditional round wood beads.

Have you ever seen a Farmhouse Cow Head with LEOPARD PRINT spots?! Now you can say that you have!

Of course, if the leopard print isn’t your thing then you could do the spots any color you want! Some of the ladies in The CRafterparty did traditional black, florals, and even buffalo check. Have fun with it and get creative.

Scrapbook Paper TP Roll Pumpkin

With some pretty fall sunflower scrapbook paper, and an empty roll of toilet paper, you can DIY the cutest and easiest Scrapbook Paper Pumpkin for your Fall or Halloween Decor!

We’re back with another Pumpkin from Recycled Pumpkin Week! And this time I’ve got for you a Scrapbook Paper TP Roll Pumpkin and its Oh So Cute!

In case you’re thinking “What the heck is Recycled Pumpkin Week?”, it’s a series I did Live over on Facebook where each day, I made a pumpkin out of something that can be recycled and found right at home!

The first one we did was Tin Can Pumpkins, so if you missed that one make sure to go back and check it out.

But for now, can we please talk about this Sunflower Scrapbook Paper Pumpkin!?

How to Make a Scrapbook Paper Pumpkin

I made this Scrapbook Paper Pumpkin on video. So you can WATCH the tutorial by clicking below.

You can leave your toilet paper roll the original size, or you can cut it shorter, just know that the size of your TP roll will determine the size of your pumpkin. I cut about a half inch off of mine.

Then, cut a piece of scrapbook paper the size of the TP roll, and then Mod Podge the paper around it so that you can not see the cardboard. You could decide to paint the roll as well, either way works.

Next, cut several strips of scrapbook paper, in a variety of coordinating colors and patterns. This is by far easiest to do with a paper cutter! This Fiskars one is my FAVE.

The length of your strips will determine how big and plump or tall and lean your pumpkin is. Shorter pieces will make it more tall and lean of a pumpkin and longer strips will make it more short and fat. There is no right or wrong! I made mine about 9″ x 1.5″.

Now begin gluing the strips to the inside top and bottom of the TP roll. Start by spreading them out, overlapping just slightly, and then once you have gone all the way around you can go back and fill in some of the bigger gaps with scrapbook paper strips.

Now the fun part….time to embellish! I stuffed some paper down into the roll so that the embellishments had something to glue to. Then I glued on a few sticks as the “stem”, along with a piece of rusty wire that I curled into a curly Q.

I added a couple of burlap leafs, the teal one was precut and the other I cut from regular burlap.

Lastly, a Sunflower….OBVI! #IYKYK
