Make a fun and colorful DIY Valentine Truck Shelf Sitter for Valentine’s Day this year. This mixed media DIY project brings together a fun teal color, some buffalo check, and even some leopard print. This simple DIY will certainly spread the Love this year!
I took a totally different approach to Valentine’s this year from the traditional Red Heart decor. Instead, I went for the fun and colorful theme that conversation hearts bring to the scene!
It all started with these adorbs napkins that I found at Walmart and turned into an even more adorbs DIY Conversation Heart Wreath. After remaking the Dollar Tree Valentine Red Truck to match, it was all downhill (uphill?) from there. I went for a looooong walk on the wild side with this one though, and threw in the leopard print to make a major statement. I am just loving the fun and funky look this year!
I made this DIY Valentine Truck shelf sitter on a Live over on my Facebook page, but don’t worry if you missed the Live video, you can go back and watch the replay of that HERE. You can of course customize this to your liking and change out the colors to match your decor. If you aren’t crazy like me, you certainly don’t have to add leopard print to your Valentine’s.

This entire Valentine’s DIY was inspired and made with a free printable over on Southern Crush at Home’s blog. You can get the adorable Valentine Truck printable in Mel’s free resource library by signing up for her email list. Totally worth heading over there, she’s got some really cute stuff!

How to make a DIY Dollar Tree Shelf Sitter for Valentine’s Day
This was originally a craft a did LIVE over on my Facebook page, Watch the REPLAY to see the step by step video.
Stain the popsicle sticks with brown paint mixed with water or brown stain.
If the popsicle sticks are too long to fit inside the back of the wooden frame, snip the ends so that they fit in snuggly.
Dry brush the popsicle sticks with white chalk paint. To do the dry brush technique, just dip a dry paint brush into a little bit of white paint and dab off any extra. Using short light brush strokes, paint the popsicle sticks until you are satisfied with the coverage.
Glue the popsicle sticks to the inside back of the frame to look like wooden planks.
Glue the printable Valentine Truck to a piece of cardstock or poster board, and cut it out so that it’s sturdier than regular paper. Cut a small square of foam board or cardboard and glue it to the back of the Truck printable, so that it is raised up off of the back of the wooden frame. Glue the truck into the frame.
Make a variety of sizes, patterns, and textured hearts to make a mixed media type look. I cut one heart out of pink glitter paper, one out of buffalo check fabric, one out of leopard print paper, and one out of white cardstock covered with lace. The other hearts were random embellishment I had on hand which were pink plastic and a wired heart wrapped in pink ribbon.
Glue the hearts above the truck to the back of the frame to look as if they are floating up and out of the bed of the truck. ADORBS!
Make small shoelace bow out of some coordinating colored ribbon, and glue to the top center of the wooden frame. Ta-daa!
