With an ordinary gift bag and a $1 white canvas, you can make a fun, easy, and colorful DIY Easter Gift Bag Reverse Canvas! This Some BUNNY Loves You Gift Bag makes for the perfect little Easter decoration, and the best part is, you only need a few supplies!
If you know me at all, you know I’m a total sucker for *all the colors* of the rainbow. When I saw this adorable “Some Bunny Loves You” at Walmart, I just had to grab it to craft with. I’m a little picky about my Rainbow colors if you didn’t know though, I prefer them JUST like this bag. With the pink, bright blue, purple, and yellow, more than the traditional ROYGBV. Call me Lisa Frank! (If you don’t know that reference, you’re too young so Google it LOL)
The basic idea for this project could be used SO many ways! You can get gift bags for any holiday or occasion, not just Easter. And remember, most gift bags are 2 sided, so you can get double the projects out of ONE .98 cent gift bag, score!

How to turn a SomeBUNNY Loves you Rainbow Gift Bag into a Reverse Canvas Easter Sign
This Easter Gift Bag Reverse Canvas is super easy to make, and may even be pretty self explanatory, but I’ve got a video for you just in case! You can see how easy this one is to make by going HERE, or watching the video below.
Written Steps to make an Easter Gift Bag Reverse Canvas
- Remove the white canvas from the wooden frame.
The easiest way to do this is to use an X-acto knife to slit around the back of the white canvas so you have one rectangular piece. You can rip the remainder off pretty easily, and don’t worry about removing the staples. You won’t see them since they’re on the back of the frame. Trim up the canvas so that it fits over the back of the frame, without hanging off the edge.
- Stain the wooden frame dark brown.
You can use either a dark brown paint mixed with water, or an antique wax/stain to rub over the wood using a baby wipe. Wipe down with a dry paper towel to remove the excess paint/stain.
- Glue the gift bag to the white canvas rectangle.
Cut out the front of the gift bag, and if it is larger than the white canvas, trim it accordingly so that it fits. Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the white canvas, and secure the gift bag to it. Press down firmly and smooth out all the creases and wrinkles.
- Attach the Canvas to the back of the wooden frame.
Apply hot glue all around the back of the wooden frame (side with the staples), and glue the canvas + gift bag to the back.
- Paint the wooden beads and make the hanger.
Paint a few of each color, and once dried, string them onto a piece of string or twine. Glue the beaded hanger to the back of the reverse canvas frame
- Make a small bow and attach to the top of the frame.
Cut a 2-3 inch strip of coordinating ribbons, pinch in the middle, and tie a piece of twine around the center. Talk about a super easy bow, I’m not even sure you can call this one a bow! Make a simple shoelace bow with twine, and glue that to the middle of the other bow. Glue both to the top of the frame.
- Hang up and Enjoy!
How fun does this look with all the other super colorful Easter DIYs we made this year!? I can’t decide which is my favorite, but it’s definitely a toss between the “HOP” Shelf Sitter, and the Teal and Buffalo Check Distressed Bunny sign.
This Easter Gift Bag Reverse Canvas is the perfect compliment to our Paint Swatch Easter Egg garland, and both were easy as pie to make!
