Dollar Tree has some super cute Christmas Tree Ornaments, but the real magic comes when you make the over into a handmade piece that’s a little more your style! Turn this Dollar Tree Santa Belt Ornament into a more neutral piece with music sheets, gold accents and a green poinsettia. Ho Ho Ho!
Welcome to Day 3 of our Manda Panda Countdown to Craftmas! This the first year that I am starting a tradition of 24 days of Crafty Christmas lives over on my Facebook Page. Make sure to check out the Faux Rusted Christmas Tree we made for Day 2!
Dollar Tree can be hit or miss with their Christmas tree ornaments. Some of them are super duper cute as is, some of them are straight up cheapy cheesy (sorry DT), and then others have some massive potential but just need a little crafty love!
This Dollar Tree Santa Belt Ornament falls into the latter category.
I mean, it’s CUTE. It’s also a little wonky. Is it me, or is that Santa belt totally crooked LOL?!
After I got my hands on it, the cuteness factor was upped 100000%!
Let’s make this Dollar Tree Santa Belt Ornament over into something cute with a capital C!

How to Makeover a Dollar Tree Santa Ornament
I made this Dollar Tree Santa Belt Ornament on video, so you can WATCH it or click on the picture right below.
Start by pulling the top red burlap piece right off of the wooden ornament. First, I heated up the top metal piece with my heat gun and pulled that off and set it aside, along with the black velvet belt and buckle.
This DT ornament had good bones! Just needed some love.
Next trace the ornament onto a sheet of music paper, and then take a lighter and gently burn the edges to give it the dingy old look. Make sure to super quickly blow it out so it just barely singes the edges.
Then Mod Podge it to the ornament, and glue the Santa belt back over the front center.
Paint the top metal piece that you pulled off all gold, and glue that back on the top.
Glue on a small piece of gold glitter branch, with a green and buffalo check poinsettia on the top, just below the metal piece and off to the left a bit.
I used a white ribbon with gold writing that said “Peace, Love, and Joy” for the hanger and it went along with it just perfectly!
You wouldn’t even know it was the same ornament once you get it on your Christmas Tree! I am so on love!
Bonus points if your music sheet is for a Christmas song!
