Nothing says Christmas time like a DIY JOY Christmas Sign on a distressed chippy shim background. This easy to make DIY Christmas decor is not only easy to make, but it can be made on a budget too! Fa La La La La, it’s DIY craft time!
This DIY JOY Christmas Sign was such a hit in my private VIP crafting group, The CRafterparty!
I just love how it’s slightly farmhouse style, but could go along with a traditional Christmas as well.
And can we talk about that Chippy background? #nailedit
I always think that the chippy just comes out so much better when done on real wood like shims, compared to the Dollar Tree MDF boards.
If you wanted to, you could totally do the Crackle technique for the background as well. It’s a totally different look, but I think it would be equally as cute!

We decided to go with a Chippy Background on this DIY JOY Sign, and I am so happy that we did! Chippy just comes out so darn good when done on a real wood piece like shims.
For the “O”, we went with a mini grapevine wreath with a peppermint napkin in the center. Jazzed it up with the sparkly pip berry garland and bow.
It needed a little something more then a twine hanger, but I thought a wood bead hanger may be too much, so I went with this wired jingle bell garland and I think that was just perfect for it!
How darn cute does this look with those Yarn Wrapped Christmas Trees and the Foam Dice Snowman!?
