You will never look at a gift bag the same after seeing this gorgeous DIY Christmas decor. This Christmas Wagon Gift Bag Window is simple, easy, cute, and budget friendly. A win in all areas! Merry Crafty Christmas!
Clearly you can tell that last year (2022) I was on a Red, Black, and White Christmas kick!
This year (2023) I am on more of a gold, white and vintage-y vibe Christmas. Not necessarily vintage Christmas decor, but vintage color and style, if that even makes sense.
I still absolutely LOVE the classic, red, black, and white, but it just doesn’t go with the vibe of my new apartment.
One thing that I really DON’T care for in my Christmas crafts and decor is a ton of green. I’m just not a fan!
Gift bags a a great way to display gorgeous Christmas “art” for cheaper than what it would cost to buy at a place like Hobby Lobby.
After this craft, you’ll never look at a gift bag the same again!
I’ve made a few of these gift bags crafts, so be sure to check out the Christmas Red Barn and the Christmas Church as well!

How to Make a Christmas Wagon Gift Bag Window Frame
I made this Christmas Gift Bag Window on video. So you can WATCH the tutorial by clicking below.
This is a bit of a beast to explain without in progress pics, but since I made this live I don’t have them so I recommend watching the LIVE REPLAY for the best instructions!
First things first, paint your paint sticks and wood dowels all black, and then dry brush with white to give it a “snowy” look. You will need 4 of each (paint sticks/dowels), and once you’re done they should like like the below.
Glue them together on each corner to make a frame, and then glue the dowels criss-cross on the back to make the window frame.
Next, cut the front of your gift bag out, and then cut a piece of cardboard/foam board the same size as your window frame as the backing. Then Mod Podge the Christmas Wagon Gift Bag to the cardboard/foam board.
You will then glue the foam board with the gift bag to the back of the paint stick window frame. Because of the dowels, there will be a gap on the back between the frame and the cardboard. To make this look better, take a piece of burlap and glue it down the side edges like you see below.
Glue some faux snowy pine greenery across the top of the window frame.
Then add a cinnamon sticks pine cone embellishment to the center.
Use Mod Podge to add some faux snow to the window frame in the corners, where snow would naturally accumulate.
I also added some to the bottom of the “window sill” as well.
Finish it off by adding a hanger on the back with twine, and reinforce with small pieces of popsicle sticks like you see below.
Once it’s all complete you will have a beautiful piece of Christmas decor to add to your home!
This craft is only limited by the gift bags you can find, the sky is the limit. Imagine a gorgeous Santa window frame?
How darn cute does he look with those Mini Foam Cone Christmas Trees on the left?
