Oh Hey BOO! Are you ready to make some super cute DIY Halloween decor with this Dollar Tree BOO sign? This Rae Dunn BOO Ghost napkin makes for a craft with the perfect mixture of spooky and cute!
I’m on this kick of using up old supplies that I’ve had forever and “been meaning to do something with”. Case in point, this Dollar Tree BOO.
I’ve had this in my stash for 2 Halloweens, and every year it comes out of the closet for Halloween. And then every Halloween ends, and it goes back in the closet. And to think that I just HAD to have this when I saw it at Dollar Tree!
Well this year the inspiration struck as soon as I saw this Rae Dunn napkin which is part of my napkin subscription, the Big Pack of Craftkins!
The Big Pack of Craftkins is a quarterly variety pack of adorable napkins sent right to your door, so you don’t ever have to buy ENTIRE packs of napkins for crafting ever again. It’s not open right this moment but you can get on the waitlist for that HERE, so you get notified when I open more spots!
As soon as I saw this napkin, this Dollar Tree BOO sign idea was born.
I am loving the black and white Halloween theme as I am not a huge fan of orange. I made this BOO sign knowing that it would go just perfect with my adorable Foam Cone Mummy I made!

How to Make a Dollar Tree BOO Sign with a Napkin
I made this uh-maz-ing Dollar Tree BOO Craft on video, so you can WATCH it or click on the picture right below.
First things first, we have to get the background all painted. I used a total of 14 shims, and painted them like so:
- 3 white
- 3 light grey
- 3 medium grey
- 2 dark grey
- 2 dark grey almost black
Once they are all painted and dried, glue them onto a piece of foam or cardboard, staggering them and making sure to alternate thick end/thin end.
Next you have to paint your entire wooden BOO white, to prepare it for decoupage. This helps the image on the napkin to “pop”.
Separate the plys of your napkin so that you have the one ply and then use Mod Podge to decoupage the napkin onto the BOO. You will have to cut the napkin first into square sections, so that the image and words are all going in the right direction.
Don’t worry too much about wrinkles, it gives it character!
Take a lighter and burn off the extra napkin, and then use a mini sanding tool to clean it up (you could just sand it as well, but the burn method is much more effective and easier for words)
Don’t cover the exclamation point, unless you want to of course. I decided to give it some black polka dots using the end of a paint brush and then highlighting the dot to make it stand out.
Go ahead and glue your BOO to your background, leaving room at the bottom for your ghost.
Glue a strip of white spiderweb trim across the bottom of your background.
Paint the ghost white, and then glue her right smack in the center. Don’t forget the mini shoestring bow with black and white bakers twine for good measure!
Finish it off by putting a strip of black trim across the top for decoration.
