Make a statement this Valentine’s Day with this fun, funky, and colorful conversation heart wreath made from a Dollar Tree foam wreath form and some napkins. This DIY napkin wreath is super easy to make, and it’s great for crafting on a budget! Will you Be my Valentine?!
This DIY Dollar Tree Conversation Heart Wreath was 100 percent inspired by the adorable napkins that I found at Walmart! I saw them and instantly knew I had to buy them, but at the time I had no clue what I was going to do with them. What I did know, is that I wouldn’t be using them as actual napkins! I loved them so much, that I made this Cutesy Conversation Heart napkin sign on a Facebook Live too.
I had about 6 of those Dollar Tree small foam wreaths leftover from my Twins Super Sonic the Hedgehog birthday party, because they made the perfect Sonic Golden Rings. But the thing is, I had nothing to do with them afterwards and you know I couldn’t throw them away! I had this genius idea to Mod Podge the napkins to the foam wreath, but I had no idea if it would actually work.

It took a bit of trial and error to get this Dollar Tree Conversation Heart napkin Wreath just right, but once I did, the final result was freaking adorbs! The first attempt was wrapping the entire napkin as a whole around the foam wreath, and boy was that an epic fail. I finally figured that wrapping thin strips in a spiral fashion was the way to go, so I did the dirty work for you. Your welcome.

How to make a DIY Dollar Tree Conversation Heart Wreath for Valentine’s Day
Follow the below easy steps to make a Dollar Tree Conversation Heart Napkin Wreath!
Cut the napkins into 2 inch strips. I actually had both tissues AND napkins, and I ended up using the tissues instead because they were thick good quality and I liked the smaller hearts.
Apply a decent layer of mod podge to the portion of the wreath that the 2 inch strip of napkin will cover at a time, and than wrap the napkin around the wreath. Tap lightly to smooth it out, but careful not to rub too hard or the napkin will tear.
Continue to add Mod Podge, then a napkin strip, each one overlapping the strip before it just a tad, until you make it all the way around and the entire wreath is covered.
Its easiest to wrap it in a spiral fashion, and apply a bit a Mod Podge over the top of any areas that aren’t sticking well. I did not go back and seal the entire wreath with Mod Podge because I will not be displaying this outside, however, you could totally seal the entire thing to protect it if youd like.
Use hot glue to attach the wooden “Love” sign across the front of the wreath. I had a little plastic conversation heart necklace that I found at Walmart that I added to the Love sign by draping it around the letters. This part is completely optional of course, but I thought it gave it a nice touch.
Make a scrap ribbon bow for the top of the wreath. This is seriously the simplest bow ever! These cute and easy bows look best if you use ribbon with different styles and textures. Here I chose one satin, two ribbed, a purple lacey and a teal sheer. It just makes for a more diverse looking bow in the end.
Cut several pieces of different color coordinating ribbon, about 6-7 inches long. Don’t even worry about them all being exactly the same length, the messiness is what makes it!. Dove tail the end of each piece of ribbon by folding it in half lengthwise and cutting a diagonal slit from the top down towards the end.
Layer the strips of ribbon in a cross cross fashion, one on top of the other, mixing up the pattern so that the colors are all spread out. Tie a piece of string or twine around the center of the ribbons and pull it super tight before knotting it. A zip tie works great for this part if you have one. Then fluff the ribbon to your liking. You can even cut some of the ends if you need to. Just play around with it until you like it!
Glue the scrap ribbon bow to the top of the wreath, just off center to the right, or wherever you think it looks best. You can add some glitter iridescent heart cuts out behind the “L” if you want to give it some extra flair.
