If there’s one thing that makes my heart go pitter patter, it’s the combo of Sunflower with the pretty spring colored Teal. Combine that with some simple Dollar Tree supplies and you’ve got a match made in Crafty Heaven! This Dollar Tree “Hello Spring” Sunflower is all that wrapped up into one and makes a perfect piece of DIY Spring decor!
It’s no secret that I have OSD. Not to be confused with OCD (which I also have LOL), but Obsessive Sunflower Disorder. I just cannot get enough, so when I saw this purple flower welcome sign at Dollar Tree, I immediately made mental plans to turn it into my favorite flower.
You could set this Dollar Tree Sunflower Decor on a bookcase as a shelf sitter like I did below, you could sit it atop of a doorway on the little ledge that comes out, or you could add a sawtooth hanger on the back and hang it right on your wall. Whatever you decide to do with this bright and cheerful DIY, it’s sure to be a hit!
If you suffer from OSD as I do , than you will definitely want to see the UH-MAZ-ING Hello Summer Sunflower Clothespin Wreath I made last year. I think the colors just scream summer and it’s exactly what you need to treat your OSD!

Time needed: 1 hour
How to Make a “Hello Spring” Sunflower Wall Decor from Dollar Tree Supplies
- Paint long wooden block Teal.
- Take the “Welcome” off of the Dollar Tree Flower sign and paint the entire flower with white chalk paint.
We are painting it white first, because it will be much easier to get coverage on the flower with the yellow paint. Dry the white paint completely before painting yellow.
- Paint the “Sunflower” petals yellow and the center brown.
Once the entire flower is yellow, go back with some orange and brown paint and add some highlights around the center and outer rim of the petals. Focus more heavily toward the center so that it is darker and then becomes more yellow toward the outer parts of the Sunflower. I really suggest watching the video to see how I did this since it’s a bit hard to explain.
- Paint the “Hello Spring” wooden letters white.
- Glue the Sunflower to the center and the “Hello Spring” to the left and right of the flower.
