If there’s two things everyone loves, its Sunflowers and Gnomes. Well this Dollar Tree DIY combines the two into the perfect Spring or Summer project to make an adorbs Dollar Tree Sunflower Gnome!
When I saw this bundle of blue and yellow Sunflower fabric at Walmart, I just knew I’d be crafting up a storm with it! The first thing I made was a Fabric Sunflower, but it needed something to go along with it. Hence this Dollar Tree Sunflower Gnome!
Can I just tell you how much I am obsessed with Sunflowers?! I have OSD…..Obsessive Sunflower Disorder. I enjoy them year round, don’t get me wrong, but I reallllllyy think they are a true sign that Summer is on it’s way. If there is any way at all to work a Sunflower into one of my crafts, then trust me I’m gonna do it. #SunflowerLover
When I grabbed this Gnome from Dollar Tree it looked NOTHING like it does now. It was an Easter bunny gnome, and it was wrapped in that god awful tacky tinsel that just HAD to go.
Now I know Easter is over, and you may not be able to get your hands on one of these Gnomes, but you can still make this! Just cut a piece of cardboard in the shape of the frame in the pic of the naked gnome down below on this post. It may not work exactly the same, but it will be super cute nonetheless!

How to Makeover a Dollar Tree Easter Gnome into a Summer Sunflower Gnome
I made this adorable Dollar Tree Sunflower Gnome on video, so you can WATCH the step by step tutorial HERE or click on the picture right below.
First things first, you’ve got to get your gnome nakey! Strip him all the way down, taking every bit of that tacky tinsel off until he looks like this…
Next, cut your fabric large enough to wrap around your Sunflower Gnomes hat, leaving about an inch extra all around.
Then wrap it around the front and glue the fabric down on the back.
Tuck in any loose parts and glue them down so you have a nice flat neatly wrapped sunflower gnome hat.
Now take your mop head apart, keeping each strand folded in half and glue it to the very bottom lip of the hat.
Once you’ve covered the entire beard area, it’s time to start unwinding all the strings of the mop head. This step is optional, you could totally leave him with the thick stranded beard, but I like the way they look all thin and wavy, and I think it gives him a more fuller looking beard (and what Gnome wouldn’t want that LOL?!)
For his nose, take 2-3 unwound mop head strands and glue them to a large wood bead, and then glue that baby right onto where the nose goes. You may be able to get away with just gluing the nose right on, but I felt like it was leaving a bald spot so I added the extra mop strands.
Next, take some blue pom pom yarn and glue it around the under rim of the hat to finish it off.
Add your blue Sunflower head, and we’re done!
The only thing extra that I did that’s not pictured was glue a little loop of twine to the top back of his Sunflower Gnome hat so that he can hang with pride.
There we have it! You’ve got yourself a beautiful Dollar Tree Sunflower Gnome to add to your DIY Spring or Summer decor this year! If you’re a #GnomeLover, than this is a must make.
