Nothing says summer like a Sunflower Pineapple hanging on your front door! This unique and gorgeous statement piece is a DIY makeover of a tacky tinsel Dollar Tree pineapple decor using just a few bucks and a few supplies. The results will leave your neighbors asking “Where did you buy that?!
It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with sunflowers and sunflower decor. I mean, c’mon, have you seen my Sunflower and Bumblebee styled tiered tray!?
But I think I may have crossed over the line of obsession into the realm of just plain old crazy with this Dollar Tree Sunflower Pineapple. I don’t know, you be the judge of that!
One thing I do know, is that this tacky tinsel wrapped pineapple was not staying looking like this once I got my hands on it. So let’s make her over with Sunflowers!

How to Make a Sunflower Pineapple from a Dollar Tree Tinsel Pineapple
I made this unique and gorgeous Sunflower Pineapple on video, so you can WATCH me decorate it HERE or click on the picture right below.
First things first, take alllllll of that tacky tinsel right off of your pineapple and throw that directly in the trash. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, just throw it away LOL (Can you tell I hate tinsel?)
Then take a large piece of burlap and glue it all across the front of the pineapple so that you have a surface to glue the sunflower heads to. Trim the burlap to be the shape of the Pineapple.
Then you’ll just start gluing the sunflower heads all across the front of the pineapple in rows going across. I kind of stuck the little stem through the burlap and then glued the back to get them to stay as you can see below.
Once it’s all done, the back will look a little something like this….
And the front will look a little something like this….I did rows of 3, 4, 4, 3, from top to bottom.
Finish it off by gluing some faux fern greenery to the top of the Sunflower Pineapple.
I then added a large simple buffalo check bow with a mini bow bling from Totally Dazzled!
I am so incredibly in love with how this Dollar Tree Sunflower Pineapple Door Hanger turned out!
What do you think, too much? Have I gone too far? It’s never too far when it comes to Sunflowers for me!
