OH DEER, your DIY Christmas decor is going to be cuteness overload with this hand painted Dollar Tree Wooden Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer door hanger with leopard print antlers!
I almost didn’t buy this wooden Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer cutout when I saw it at Dollar Tree, because I didn’t think I would be able to paint it and make it actually look halfway decent.
And then, once I did buy it, it sat in my craft stash for a whole year until I had the genius idea to do leopard print antlers! That idea gave me the inspo to get this bad boy done.
Well let’s just say that I surprised myself with how incredibly adorable this Dollar Tree Wooden Rudolph turned out.
I mean…..look at that face!
Have you ever seen a Wood Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer with LEOPARD antlers? I think not!
Lemme show you how I took this plain old Dollar Tree Wood Rudolph cutout and turned it into a cute and fun piece of DIY Christmas decor that will look fab on your front door.

How to Make a Dollar Tree Wooden Rudolph
I made this Dollar Tree Wooden Rudolph on video. So you can WATCH the tutorial by clicking below.
First things first, paint the entire wood reindeer brown.
Next, trace the antlers onto a piece of leopard print felt, fabric, or scrapbook paper (I used stiff felt from Hobby Lobby), cut them out, and Mod Podge them to the antlers.
Now for the hardest part, the face! I started with the eyes and used a pencil to sketch them out first. Once I had the shape I liked, I traced over the pencil lines with a black Sharpie.
I painted the inside white with a black half oval on the inner corners, added a couple small white “reflection” lines, and then some cute eyelashes to the top.
For the cheeks I used a spouncer and dabbed on red rosy cheeks. Make sure almost all of the paint is off your spouncer before dabbing so that you don’t get red blobs of paint on your cheeks.
I used a heat gun to heat up the glue under the nose and pop it off.
I then traced it onto the red glitter vinyl, cut it out, and Mod Podged it to the circle. Once that was done, I glued that bad boy back on and added a small white line to the top to make it a “shiny nose”.
For the ears, I did the same as with the eyes and used pencil to sketch the shape of the inner ear. I then painted it light tan, added a tad of red, and then some white and black highlight lines around the outer edge.
I made a cute and simple bow by layering small strips of various ribbon in an X formation, and then tying a piece of twine around the center and finishing it off with a black button.
I could not be more excited with how this Dollar Tree Wooden Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer turned out! Those LEOPARD print antlers tho!
I made a cute little Reindeer Oversized Ornament the other day, but this reindeer decor has that one beat in cuteness for sure.
