I’m a Dollar Tree girl through and through, but when I saw an Easter Bunny “HOP” Wall hanging at Michaels, my heart went hippity hop. And then I saw the price tag, and my heart nearly stopped! So, what’s a girl to do? Make one with Dollar Tree supplies instead!
This super easy DIY Easter “HOP” Shelf Sitter was inspired by a wall hanging I saw at Michaels Stores. Problem was, I wasn’t paying $27.99 for it! So I took the concept, changed some colors, added some black and white polka dots and made it into a shelf sitter using a Walmart 5 gallon paint stick as the base.
There’s something you may not know about this adorable little “Hop” decor. Would you believe me if I told you that one of the letters, H or P, are actually made of cardboard and not wood? Yup, it’s true! The “H” is cardboard because Walmart didn’t have a wooden one in stock, only the “P”. So, cardboard letter it is. I probably should have saved myself the $1.77 and just made them both cardboard while I was at it!
Another little surprise with this DIY Easter “Hop” sign is in the “O”. Remember those mini grapevine hearts that Dollar Tree sold for Valentine’s Day? Well, I turned that baby into a circle by soaking it in boiling water, and then remolding it from a heart into the “O” that is now. And doesn’t this little guy look so cute along with the Rainbow Bunny Sign we made last week!?
The best part about this Easter “HOP” DIY is that you can WATCH how I made it, because I have a video tutorial too! You can click the video below, or go HERE to catch the replay.

How to make an Easy DIY Bunny “HOP” Shelf Sitter for Easter
This DIY Easter Bunny “Hop” Shelf Sitter was made Live over on my Facebook page, so I do not have detailed step by step photos to go along with it, but you can watch the replay HERE. I’ve done my best to outline the written steps below though.
Cut a 5 gallon paint stick to be about 12 inches long, and paint it white. Use a spouncer or round foam sponge brush to make black polka dots all over it.
If you don’t have wooden letters like me, trace the shape of the letter onto cardboard and cut it out. Paint the letters however you’d like. I decided to do the “H” Teal with White polka dots, and the “P” White with Purple polka dots.
Glue the the letters standing up, with the “O” grapevine wreath in tehe middle, using E600 as a permanent bond, and hot glue as well to hold while the E6000 cures. If you are only using cardboard letters then the E6000 isn’t necessary, it’s only for wooden letters since they are heavier and may not hold up with Hot Glue alone.
To make the bunny ears, cut 2 pieces of white felt per ear in the shape of a bunny ear. Bend a pipe cleaner in half, cut as much of the furry stuff as you can, and glue it to one piece of felt and then glue the other piece of felt on top. This makes the ears bendy so that you can bend them backwards and make them floppy. Cut a smaller piece of pink burlap to make the Bunny’s inner ear, and glue that to the center of the white felt. You could also use pink felt, and put the pipe cleaner between the white and pink like below.
Glue the Bunny ears backwards to the back of the mini “O” grapevine wreath so that when you bend them back toward you, you can see the pink burlap and it looks like the Bunny ears are flopping back. Floppy Bunny ears for your HOP sign, CUTE!
Glue on your faux flower, or whatever you choose to use as a Bunny tail, and you’re all done!
