If you like the rustic fall charm feel in your Autumn crafts and decor than you are going to love this easy DIY Twine Pumpkin. This adorable little pumpkin is so easy and affordable to make that you can whip a whole batch up to decorate your Fall tiered tray in no time!
It may only be the first week of September, but I’m on a total role with the Fall DIY crafts and decor! We’ve been making a ton live over on my Facebook page, like this Wooden Stick Pumpkin, and the Sunflower Pumpkin Reverse Canvas which is my fave!
Of course I couldn’t continue the Fall Craftstravaganza without making some decor for my Fall Tiered Tray, so that’s where this easy DIY Twine Pumpkin comes in to the mix. It was between a Wood Bead Pumpkin, and this Twine Pumpkin, so naturally I decided to make both! (*Blog post coming soon for wood bead pumpkin*)
I have a some words of advice when it comes to making this Rustic Twine Pumpkin that I wish I’d known before I made my first one. If you have the thicker twine, use that one because the pumpkin comes out much fuller and better.
The thinner twine totally will work, but you’ll want to make the bundles thicker and wrap them around your fingers more times. You’ll also want to do more like 8-9 bundles, verse the 6-7 bundles you can get away with with the thicker twine. Play around! Test it out! Have fun!
My first one was a little scrawny and sad, but I learned from that one and my second came out much better. You can see the difference in the thick vs. thin twine in the pic below.

Give your home that rustic fall charm with these easy to make Twine Pumpkins!
Materials
- Twine
- Floral wire
- Jute Rope
- Raffia and Ribbon (optional)
- Glue gun
Instructions
- Wrap the twine around your four fingers about 8 times to make a small twine bundle and secure with a 2-3 inch piece of floral wire. Leave about 2 inches of wire extra to use to hold your bundles to the jute stem.
- Make 6-8 bundles, depending on how thick your twine is. Thicker twine can get away with 6 bundles, but you can make more for fuller pumpkins.
- Use the floral wire to secure the bundles around a piece of jute rope about 5 inches long.
- Wrap a piece of twine around the center to cover the floral wire.
- Fluff your pumpkin and spread out the twine bundles until they are nice and even.
- Add a small piece of raffia and ribbon for a bow.
Notes
The thicker twine works better than the thin kind. If you only have the thin twine i suggest wrapping thicker bundles with 10 or more wraps around your fingers, and making 8 or more total bundles for fuller pumpkins.
