We tend to eat a ton of eggs in this house. We also do a whole lot of crafting, so you can imagine where this is going! Egg carton crafts are the perfect way to turn those empty cartons from trash into craft, and this Egg Carton Pumpkin Wreath is no exception!
ith back to school upon us, the Halloween crafting is in full force. This Pumpkin Wreath was super fun and easy to make, and the kiddos are so proud to hang it on the front door. The best part about it is that you can cheat and paint only the outside of the egg cups, because once they are glued upside down you can’t even tell!
I think we are more excited this year than we ever have been for the Holiday season, so we have more craft ideas than we do time to make them all! Ready? Grab your supplies and let’s get to craftin’…
Supplies Needed for Egg Carton Pumpkin Wreath Craft
- 18-pack egg carton – We used 13 cups total (12 orange and 1 green), but you could substitute the green “stem” cup for felt or something else if a 12-pack is all you have.
- Paper plate
- Orange and green paint
- Paint brush
- Scissors
- Glue
- Green pipe cleaner (optional)
How to Make an Egg Carton Pumpkin Wreath
First, let’s get everything cut out.
Step 1: Cut the egg carton into individual egg cups.
Step 2: Cut the center out of the paper plate.
Time to paint!
Step 3: Paint the egg cups. You’ll need 12 orange and 1 green. (Tip: You only have to paint the outside of the orange egg cups since you won’t see the inside once they are glued to the plate.)
Step 4: Paint the paper plate rim orange. (This is optional, but it helps so that no white shows through.)
Let’s put it all together.
Make sure your egg cups and paper plate are fully dried before moving on to the next step. (Tip: Use the top flap of the egg carton as a drying rack for the painted egg cups.)
Step 5: Glue the orange egg cups upside down around the paper plate rim.
Step 6: Glue the green egg cup right side up, to act as the “stem”. (The stem could easily be substituted for felt, construction paper, cardboard, or anything you have on hand.)
Put the finishing touch on top!
Step 7: This part is completely optional, but if you’re feeling extra crafty you can make some leaves out of a green pipe cleaner. Just bend and twist into shape.
Now, hang your beautiful Egg Carton Pumpkin Wreath for all to see! If you’re ready to get into the Halloween spirit, this recycled craft can be made with just a few supplies, and it turns your trash into a fun craft for the kiddos to do at home.
