This Red, White and Blue Clothespin Wreath makes the perfect decor for this 4th of July Holiday. This DIY Wreath is so easy to make that you can have it done in just 3 steps, but the best part is that all the supplies come straight from the Dollar Tree for just $5! It’s such a pretty wreath with it’s sparkly red, white, and blue stars topped off with 3 flowers for good measure.
I’m sure you have seen the Patriotic Clothespin Wreaths floating around Pinterest by now. You know, the ones that look like the American Flag? Well, of course I did a tutorial on how to make one like that, but this Dollar Tree 4th of July Clothespin Wreath is completely different!
DIY Clothespin Wreaths are the -ish right now. Aside from the Patriotic one I made, I also just finished this bright and cheerful Summer Sunflower Clothespin Wreath. Both of which I got all the supplies at trusty Dollar Tree.
Now there are a few different ways of coloring the clothespins when making a DIY wreath. I spent, no joke, an entire day testing out different methods of coloring clothespins and I typically swear by dyeing them with RIT dye. This July Fourth clothespin wreath is an exception to my rule for one reason: THE WHITE. You can’t dye clothespins white (do they even make white dye? I suppose that would be bleach hmmm).
I was in a little bit of heaven while shopping at Dollar Tree for the supplies to make this Fourth of July Clothespin Wreath. There was red, white, and blue everywhere, it looked like the American Flag threw up in there! There were so many choices I came out of there with enough items to make several different wreaths in several different styles……whoopsie daisy.
I used 72 total clothespins to make this wreath, and if you follow the same pattern I did, you will use the same. The possibilities for how to clip the clothespins on the wreath are endless, so don’t let this DIY Clothespin Wreath tutorial limit your creativity! If you do plan to mix it up, and perhaps add another layer of clothespins to the wreath form, just make sure to plan for that and paint extra clothespins.
This Dollar Tree 4th of July Clothespin Wreath would make a great piece to hang on your front door, or as decoration at your July 4th Holiday celebration.

How to Make a DIY Red, White, and Blue July 4th Clothespin Wreath
Follow the below easy steps to make an easy and affordable clothespin wreath for the 4th of July. Remember, you can mix it up with color and style and make it your own and the below basic steps will still apply.
Arrange the naked wooden clothespins around the wire wreath form in a single layer
Pin the clothespins to the innermost two wires and squeeze as many as you can in each section of the frame so that you get a nice full wreath.
I was able to fit 80 white clothespins around my dollar tree 14″ wreath frame.
Spray paint the entire wreath frame and clothespins white
Apply two coats of paint to the front and sides of the clothespin wreath, allowing it to dry between coats. Spray paint on the side and all around, getting in the knooks and crannys as best as you can. I find it easier to get coverage with the white paint by putting them on the wreath form first as I do in this tutorial. (Don’t mind the extra clothespins in this pic, I was painting some loose ones white for the American Flag Clothespin Wreath I was making for a friend).
Flip the entire wreath over and spray paint the back white
Just as you did for the front of the clothespin wreath, apply 2 coats of paint to the back. Allow the wreath to dry fully in the sun, if possible, for about 20 minutes.
Glue the stars and flower embellishments to the white clothespins
You can arrange them as I did, with the 3 stars spread out on the upper right hand side and the flowers grouped on the bottom left. Or you you can get creative with it and design your own style!
Hang your 4th of July Dollar Tree Clothespin Wreath for all to admire
You can hang the outer wire rim right on a nail so you don’t even have to add string to hang.
Once you have successfully followed this DIY Clothespin tutorial, you’ll find that the possibilities are endless. You can make one for every occasion, like this “Hello” Summer Sunflower Clothespin Wreath we made to ring in Summer!
