Do you feel like there just isn’t enough time in the day to get down and crafty? Get organized and get on the road to craft again with our free printable and editable Craft Project Planner. It’s not that you don’t have time, it’s just that you have to Make Time to Make Stuff!
Does this sound familiar….?
Ughhhh I have no time for crafting! I always have all these amazing ideas of things I want to create, and when I get in the mindset I get super excited. I spend a good 3 hours on Pinterest every night and I must have 139,450 dream projects pinned to my various craft boards, only never to return to them again.
And when I do think I’ve found a moment to get down and crafty, I scroll through those trillion saved ideas, finally narrow it down to one (or two or three), click over to the website with the details, scroll to locate the supply list (get distracted by the other project mentioned on the website, whoops), only to realize I don’t have half the stuff I need to make it.
Jump in my car, run to Michaels, spend $147 because, well, I didn’t make a list first and I of course don’t have enough of a stash at home (those “extras” obvi never got used).
Alright, lets get home to make this thing. By this time, I’m TIRED, and all crafty motivation is gone. There simply just isn’t enough time in the day to craft!

Well, that’s because we have to MAKE TIME TO MAKE STUFF!
Imagine instead, you know you have a low key weekend coming up, so you look at your craft project planner to see what you might want to whip up. You have the project idea, a picture, a list of materials (both the ones you already have and the ones you still need), and the steps. You also have rough idea of the cost and time it will take to make. Since you have all of this in mind, you stop at Michaels on your way home from work Friday and pick up the few supplies you didn’t already have and by the end of the weekend, you’ve got yourself a finished project!
If your wondering how to get from craft scenario 1 (hot mess express) to craft scenario 2 (Cool, Calm, and Crafty) the answer is easy: My Craft Planner! This is the simple, 1 page solution that I use to Make More Time to Make Stuff, and I am giving it to you for free!
You can go here to download your free printable Craft Project Planner.
This is the exact craft project planner I use to collect all of my ideas as I come across them, so when craftspiration strikes, I have everything I need right there in front of me. And bada bing, bada boom, I’m creating!
What is a Craft Project Planner?
This free printable craft project planner is a 1 page tool to collect all of your project ideas and organize them into one easily accessible place.
- Project name/idea
- Photo/sketch
- To-do
- Budget
- Materials – Have and Need
This craft planner is printable as well as fillable/editable. So if you are as frugal as me and don’t want to waste ink, you can keep a digital version and edit the fields as needed.
How to use this Craft Project Planner?
From a technical standpoint, all you do is download and print as many times as you’d like! Alternatively, you can download it to any device and save it as a PDF. Each field has editable text boxes, so you can make all of your notes and save it as a digital file. This works great to save ink, and you can have all of your projects planned and accessible on the go.
To get the most out of this DIY project planner, fill it out as the ideas come to you. So this way, when craftspiration strikes, you have an array of ideas to flip through and choose without wasting time to find the instructions, locate the supplies you need, or figure out if you have enough in the budget to make your idea come true.
You can use just one page to plan a specific project and to help you organize and stay on track, or you can think of it as a cook book for crafts. You can even print multiple pages and put them in a binder. When your ready to “cook” up a craft, just flip through your “cook”book and look at all the ideas you’ve collected and choose the one you want to make most.
Here is how I personally use my craft project planner, and I find that I am truly able to get more craft time in my life as a result! Full disclosure, I am a planner at heart. A DIE HARD planner girl. I schedule everything I can and some say I would schedule my bathroom breaks if I could. I couldn’t live without my super fun and colorful Happy Planner! If planning isn’t your thing, I still urge you to try this method out, because I promise you that once you start to Make Time to Make Stuff, you’ll be amazed by how much stuff you can make! (Say that 10x fast)
I may be crazy but I love the process of filling out the printable craft planner. Even though this planner is editable, so you can fill it out digitally, I still prefer to print it out. And I use my favorite colored gel pens to make it look all pretty!
Project name/Idea
List the name of the craft project, or a quick description of the idea if it’s not something you saw elsewhere. You can jot down the website name for reference here as well. When you go to do the project you can put in the date you started, and the date you plan to complete the project. I feel that when I have a date in that space, it holds me accountable and gives me a goal in mind. This space is also super helpful if your making it as a gift, or to fulfill a craft order and there is a date that it actually NEEDS to be completed by.
Photo/Sketch
Use this space to paste an image from online if you are using a digital copy, or sketch out your idea if your a printable gal. This space has bullet journal dots so you can jot down miscellaneous notes or thoughts here as well.
Budget
Use this space to flesh out the cost of the materials you need to complete the project. You can note the max amount you want to spend, and jot down any coupons you have or sales you can catch to get the cost down. Crafting adds up quick and having a budget 100% helps to keep the price tag low.
To Do
You can use this spot in one of two ways, and I do both depending on the complexity of the project. You can use it as an actual “to-do” list of things you need to complete the project. (Ex. -Stop at Michaels, -borrow glue gun from Sara etc). OR you can use it to write the steps/instructions of the craft project.
Materials
Use this space to list all of the supplies needed to complete the craft project. Separate the supplies you already have on hand (left), from the supplies that you need to buy at the store (right). Make sure to take the craft planner with you to the store as your shopping list so that you get everything you need and nothing extra so that you stay under budget!
See it all comes together with this super cute “Make Time to Make Stuff” Craft Project Planner. And how cute are the rainbow watercolors, seriously?! Make sure to grab your free printable, and get yourself back on the road to craft again!
Until Next Time...
