Turn your favorite Holiday Patterned Fabric into an adorable No-Sew Stuffed Christmas Tree decoration. These Buffalo Check Fabric Trees are the perfect addition to your Farmhouse decor this Holiday Season, and the best part is they don’t require any sewing skills at all to make. Tis the Season!
These Buffalo Check Fabric Stuffed Christmas Tree Decorations are perfect for a Farmhouse Christmas, and look as if they were hand sewn and bought at your local Craft Fair. After you make these cute fabric Christmas Trees, people will definitely be asking you, “Where did you buy these?!” Little do they know that you made them…without a sewing machine!
In fact, these would be a great handmade Christmas Decoration to make if you’re participating at a Craft Fair, or even if you have your own Etsy Store. Items similar to this no-sew Buffalo Check Fabric Christmas tree go for about $6-$10 on Etsy, and can be made for about $1.50 a piece!
I chose to make this no-sew version as a tall straight fabric Christmas Tree (rather then the kind with the branches zig-zag in and out), since it’s easier to glue them when they’re this shape, but I did make a hand-sewn Fabric Xmas Tree version as well. Don’t worry about drawing the shape perfectly, the imperfectness gives this piece it’s character!

Also, you can choose to make these Buffalo Check Fabric Trees as big or as small as you like, this depends on how and where you want to display your No-Sew decorations. You could even skip the wooden dowel tree trunks, and make a miniature version as a cute Christmas ornament too!

How to make a Buffalo Check No-Sew Fabric stuffed Christmas Tree Decorations
Follow the below easy steps to make your own Fabric Stuffed Christmas Tree Decorations without owning a sewing machine or ever having to pick up a needle and thread!
Draw the outline of the Christmas tree on the back of the fabric (the side without the pattern), and cut it out. You can freehand this, since it is a pretty basic shape, and it doesn’t have to be perfect.
Take another piece of fabric and lay it pattern side down. Using the piece that you already cut out as a template, lay it down onto the other fabric, pattern side up. (So the 2 pieces should be non-pattern to non-pattern facing each other like in the picture below). Trace the Christmas tree shape and cut that out. *Important: This ensures that the 2 pieces line up when you go to sew them together.
You should have 2 pieces of Christmas Tree shaped fabric, the exact same size. We are now going to glue the 2 pieces together, inside out so that when we flip it right side out the pattern is on the outside. Put a thin line of glue on the outer rim of the fabric (not the bottom) and place the other piece on top, pressing firmly and holding for a few seconds. Do not glue the bottom part of the tree, you will need this open to turn it right side out and stuff it. It’s easiest if you glue it in small sections, about 4-5 inches at a time. Glue, press, and hold. Glue, press and hold. Allow the glue to dry completely, this could take a few hours depending on the type of glue you use.
Once the glue on the fabric Christmas trees is completely dry, flip the fabric right side out.
Stuff the inside with Buffalo Snow. Use enough filling to puff it up, but not so much that you’re struggling to glue the opening shut.
Take a wooden dowel and stick it up into the center of the Buffalo Snow, almost all the way to the top, leaving about 5 inches coming out from the bottom.
Glue the opening shut.
Use a generous amount of hot glue to attach the end of the wooden dowel to the rock base (or natural wood circle).
Glue the end of a piece of twine to the bottom of the base where the dowel meets the rock and begin twisting up and around the dowel until the “tree trunk” is completely covered in twine. Glue the end to secure.
Add any embellishments you’d like. On one of the no-sew buffalo check fabric Christmas Trees I added a super simple twine shoelace bow with a mini silver bell to the top.
On the second Fabric Christmas Tree I added a scrap bow to the bottom where the dowel meets the bottom of the Fabric Tree. Cut 2-3 pieces of your coordinating ribbon about 3 inches long, and dove tail the ends of each. To dove tail, just fold the ribbon in half, and cut a diagonal slit like the below pic.
Layer the ribbon pieces on top of each other, with the widest pattern on the bottom. Tie a piece of twine or string around the center and fan out the ends. Such an easy bow!
These Farmhouse themed Stuffed Fabric Christmas Trees would look darling as a shelf sitter, or on a layer of faux snow on top of your mantel with a fire burning underneath. I’m feeling cozy just thinking about it! Of course the black and white Buffalo Check is classic, but you could make a variety of trees in other patterns, like a red and black buffalo check as well.

- Lay out another piece of fabric, pattern side down, and place the piece that you just cut out on top, pattern side up (non-pattern to non-pattern is touching).
- Trace the Christmas Tree shape and cut it out.
- Glue the outer edge of the 2 pieces together using Aleene's Fabric Fusion, in an inside out fashion (pattern side on the inside).
- Allow the glue to dry completely.

- Glue the end of a piece of twine to the bottom of the dowel where it meets the rock, and twist it up and around the wooden dowel until it is completely covered in twine. Glue to secure the end.
- Make a scrap ribbon bow by cutting 2-3 pieces of and layering them on top of each other, and tying a piece of string around the center.
- Glue the bow to the top or bottom of the Buffalo Check Fabric Stuffed Christmas Tree.
Notes
You can make the size of the fabric as big or as small as you like, just make sure that you trace the first one out so that the 2 pieces match up. If you have double sided fabric you don't have to worry about if they are pattern to pattern when tracing and cutting out. When making a scrap ribbon bow, make sure to dove tail the ends first to give it a more polished look. Alternatively, you can tie a simple shoelace bow out of twine and glue a mini silver bell to the center for a more simple look.
