Beat the heat in a colorful way this summer with this Rainbow Paper Plate Fan. The kids will love staying cool with this fun and easy recycled craft project. The best part is, it can be made with just a few supplies you may already have in your house!
Well, we are full steam ahead into July and how could you not tell with his 90 degree weather!? These bright and cheery Rainbow Paper Plate Fans are the perfect kids craft to help beat the heat. All you need is some paint, a paper plate (and who doesn’t ALWAYS have those, I know I do!), and a popsicle stick.
Have you ever heard that thing when you were a kid about using paper fans? That they actually make you hotter because you are expending energy to wave your arm back and forth? I have no idea if it’s actually true, but who cares since they make you FEEL cooler at the time.
You could bring these Rainbow Paper Plate Fans to the pool to stay cool while you’re not in the water, take them to the kiddos soccer game, or if you are like us and don’t have AC in the house, fan yourself while watching TV this summer. If you are really lucky your kids will fan you like a king or queen while you relax. You may want to make a handful while your at it!

Cut the paper plate in half
Draw curved guidelines for the rainbow onto the half plates
This step is optional, you can totally freehand it if you’re better than me!
Paint the outer most curve red and work your way in following the colors of the rainbow
Paint the outer curve red, and then orange-yellow-green-blue-purple.
Glue a popsicle stick to the back of the rainbow paper plate fan
Fan yourself (or your Mom) and stay cool!
This Rainbow Paper Plate Fan craft makes a great project for the classroom, summer camp activity, or even for the kiddos to make at home. Since one paper plate makes 2 Rainbow Fans, you may as well just craft up a bunch. These paper plate fans are fun, easy, and they serve a real purpose of stayin’ cool all summer long!
