Take a set of thrift store wooden utensils and turn them into a cute piece of DIY kitchen decor. This Rusted Utensil Kitchen Jar was made as the perfect compliment to my sunflower theme kitchen with an old vintage vibe.
This Rusted Utensil Kitchen Jar Decor is one of the most recent crafts that we’ve done in my private VIP crafting group, The CRafterparty! And this one is near and dear to my heart.
It’s the very last craft that we did in my old apartment. The teeny apartment that I went live from in my living room on my coffee table for 2 straight years!
Its also the first craft that I made for my new apartment decor. My sunflower kitchen that I always wanted!
Of course, I used the Digital Deco Designs print called “The Victoria” (and I used the “Hand Painted Checks” as well), because it’s my fave one and it matched perfectly with theme and vibe I was going for in my new kitchen.
I love this print so much that I have made countless other crafts with is like the Sunflower Easter Egg and the Upcycled thrift Store Globe!
Ever since I discovered printables from Cathy at Digital Deco Designs I have been literally obsessed. I’m telling ya, go check them out for yourself and I dare you to not get addicted!
I have a printer, so I download and print them onto rice paper at home, but she offers print and ship as well for those that may not have a printer. Either way, once you start Mod Podging rice paper, you can’t stop!

A new product called “Rust Effect Paste” is what I used to get this flawless Rusty look, but there are other ways to achieve this using paint, Mod Podge, and Cinnamon. All of which I teach inside the The CRafterparty group.
I went with a layered look with the sunflower print, the burlap, and the checks. Added a twine shoestring bow for good measure!
The project wouldn’t be complete without a gorgeous scrappy fabric bow. The fabric flower embellishment came from a local thrift shop and it certainly came in handy here.
I kept is super simple in the back because, well, it’s the back!
