It’s officially April and Spring is in the air, so let’s celebrate with a cute and colorful DIY Scrap Fabric and Burlap flower! This is not just any ‘ole project though, this was made with 100 percent scrap craft supplies from my craft stash. Making this a $0 Spring Flower, you can’t beat that!
If you’re anything at all like me, than you save every little bit of leftover supplies when you make a project. Some may call me a “hoarder”, but I prefer “thrifty”, or maybe even “frugal”. But I don’t care what they say, because you never know you “may use it someday”! Famous last words hahah!
This adorable Scrap Fabric and Burlap Spring Flower is the result of my hoarding, so I wouldn’t have it any other way. I cleaned out my ENTIRE craft stash last weekend, and set aside a few things I’d been holding onto for quite a while and told myself that if I didn’t craft with them in the next week or so, then it was time to toss ’em. So ya know what I did? I crafted with them!
The base of this Spring Flower is an old corkboard that I broke in half (I still have the other half, we’ll see how long that bad boy stays in the stash- he he he), the flower itself is made from leftover fabric from Easter and pieces of burlap ribbon, the center is made from a corkscrew, and the stem is made of sticks from my yard.

How to Make a Scrap Fabric and Burlap Spring Flower
This Scrap Fabric Flower was honestly one of the easiest projects to make, but I still have a video showing you exactly how to do it. You can go HERE to watch or you can watch it below.
Time needed: 20 minutes
How to make a Fabric and Burlap Spring Flower from scrap supplies leftover in your craft stash
- Paint the corkboard all white.
You don’t have to use a corkboard here! I just happened to have an old one, but you can use the back of a Dollar Tree wooden sign or whatever surface you have. It doesn’t even matter the size because you can adjust the size of your flower to fit.
- Cut the flower petals out of the fabric and burlap.
You can use as many or or as few patterns and colors as you like. Just freehand cut the oval petal shapes out, there is no need for a pattern or to even trace the shape first. Don’t worry about it being perfect, the imperfections give this flower the fun whimsy look.
- Glue the petals onto the white painted corkboard or surface you chose.
I used hot glue for this, but you could use craft glue or Mod Podge as well. If you use hot glue, just apply a very small thin amount because it doesn’t take much to get the fabric to stick and you don’t want big hard chunks of glue under your fabric flower.
- Glue the wine cork to the center.
I used sheers to cut the cork in half so that it wasn’t popping out so far. You can also use a rock or an old button for the center. Anything circular will do.
- Glue the sticks to make your flower stem.
- Glue the jute rope around the outer perimeter of the corkboard.
This step gives it a little more of a finished look and brings it all together. You can even add a tiny bow for an extra touch, I used the bow to cover the part where the ends of the rope meet…..shhhhhh!
I just love how this adorable scrap fabric spring flower turned out, and I love that it was free for me to make even more! It’s so colorful and fun, it’s the perfect addition to your other Spring DIY Decor.
