Both Gnomes and Succulents have been trending in the DIY crafts and decor space for quite some time now, but the two combined into Succulent Gnomes? Unheard of! This is one crafty fun decor project that you are not going to want to miss!
I cannot take full credit for the idea behind these adorable little Succulent Gnome planters, I have the @Craftyfun_com Instagram to thank for that! I, of course, put my own spin on them and added some color to make them super fun and different!
This project is almost 100% Dollar Tree, except for the Faux Fur. About that fur…..it was a Calvin Klein jacket that I found in a box sitting outside of the dumpsters of my apartment last summer. Don’t worry, it was actually super clean when I found it, and I washed it right away, TWICE!
I just knew it would come in handy and the first thing I thought of when I found it was Gnome Beards! Justice and I had a bit of fun with the jacket before before we chopped it up though, as you can see below he’s a P.I.M.P LOL!
If you haven’t noticed, the Gnome fad is not going anywhere and if you’re a Gnome Lover like me, make sure to check out the adorable Dollar Tree Sunflower Gnome that I made just last week! #TeamGnome Now, let’s make some Succulent Gnomes.

How to Make Succulent Gnomes
I made these adorable Succulent Gnomes on video, so you can WATCH me decorate it HERE or click on the picture right below.
First things first, paint the mini terra cotta pots with white chalk paint. You don’t HAVE to do this, but I prefer them white.
Stick a piece of floral foam and a dab of hot glue inside each of the pots. Now they are ready for the beards!
Cut small squares of faux fur, just big enough to cover the front of the terra cotta pots. There’s a trick to cutting fur. Make sure to use an X-acto knife and cut from the back, or you are going to have faux fur everywhere. Trust me, I started with scissors and learned the hard way after everyone on my FB Live told me the better way to do it!
Glue the beards onto the front of each pot, and add a wood bead as the nose to the top of the beard.
The next part is a matter of preference of what you feel is easier to do. You can stick the succulents in first, and then glue the reindeer moss down under them, OR you can glue the moss down first, and then stick the succulents down into the foam. I tried both ways and what I ended up doing was sticking the succulents in first, and then removing them so that I had the hole and knew were the moss should not go to not cover the hole.
Then Stick your succulents down into the floral foam in the pot. I chose to do 3 different color succulents. A Peach….
A Teal…
And a Purple…
When you’re all done you’re going to have some of the cutest darn succulent gnomes that you ever did see!
I just love the colored succulents as opposed to the plain green.
