What better crafty combination is there than Sunflowers, Bees, and Gnomes! Throw in the fact that its a Dollar Tree DIY with a free printable and you got yourself a match made in Crafty Heaven that looks just darling on a summer tiered tray.
This Spring/Summer I vowed to handmake everything for my gorgeous Sunflower and Bumblebee styled tiered tray! That mission has been completed and this adorable Sunflower Gnome House came out of it!
This project is unique because it was made with a FREE crafty printable that I found over on This Southern Girl Can’s blog. Well, technically I found the printable on her Facebook page, but it lives over on her blog. You can get this Sunflower Gnome printable and 9 other gorgeous sunflower printables HERE.
Speaking of Facebook, if you’re following along over there than you may have seen the bajillion crafts we did for our Sunflower tiered tray series! Seriously, it was a blast. How to Make a Sunflower Gnome House with a Dollar Tree Wood House
I made this adorable little Sunflower Gnome House on video, so you can WATCH me decorate it HERE or click on the picture right below.
This project is easy to make, with a capital “E”! Took a whopping 25 min, and I know you can make one too.
First things first, stain the entire house with Antique Wax or a brown stain. Then paint the top/front of the house all white, but leave the sides stained brown. The white will make it so that the Sunflower Gnome rice paper really POPS once its on there.
Then trace your house shape onto the Sunflower Gnome rice paper and cut it out. Mod podge the rice paper to the front of the wooden house.
Use a sanding sponge to sand off any of the excess rice paper and to give it a more finished look.
Wrap some twine around the top part of the house about 6-7 times and secure in the back with glue.
Now make a “loopy bow” but wrapping twine around 2-3 fingers a bunch of times until you have a twine circle. Then take another piece of twine, and tie it around the center to make the “bow”. Glue it to the front of the Sunflower Gnome House with a mini Bee right in the center.
How cute is this little Sunflower Gnome House!? It’s the perfect compliment to the bottom tier of my Sunflower Tiered Tray! Make sure to check out all the other amazing little projects we made for it HERE.
I played around and had it on the middle tier for a bit, but ultimately kept it on the bottom. It was a tough decision lemme tell ya! Which tier do YOU think it looks better on? Here it is on the middle, with the cute little Jenga Block Book Stack, and Mini Picket Fence.
