There’s nothing more fun, funky, and creative than a vintage thrift store gumball machine repainted and decorated for Summer with my fave thing in the world….SUNFLOWERS! This decorated gumball machine is a huge statement piece for any room decorated in a Sunflower theme and will leave people asking “Where’d you buy that!?”
I am OSD. Obsessive Sunflower Disorder! So of course I had to do my Vintage Thrift Store Gumball Machine in Sunflower theme.
I also love decorating in a fun and funky- non traditional- way.
So as soon as I saw this Vintage gumball machine at a local thrift store, good ‘ole Quality Thrift, I just knew it was coming home with me!
This bad boy wasn’t white like this when I got though. I gave it whole makeover before it made it to the decorating phase. Make sure to check out the transformation to see how I took this thrift store flip from Drab to Fab!
The best part about this vintage gumball machine is that is can be decorated over and over for any season or holiday. I think my fave was jazzing it up for Christmas from head to toe (or from base to top LOL).
But for now, it’s summer so we’re talking Sunflowers!

How to Decorate a Gumball Machine in a Sunflower Theme
The possible ways to decorate your Vintage Gumball Machine are endless but I decided to keep it simple!
I can’t wait until we move into a bigger house so that I have more room and opportunity to decorate and get fun inspirational pics for you guys! But until then, these will have to do. Just imagine it in a big beautifully decorated entryway with Sunflowers everywhere!
We did an entire Sunflower tiered tray theme month a few months back and during that time we made not one, but two mini Sunflower and Bee Wood Bead Garlands. I took them off my tray and played around with using them on the Gumball Machine.
You could put them on the coin turny thingy, or you can hang them from the top. Either way looks adorbs!
Or you could always put one on top AND one on the bottom like I did.
I filled the entire gumball machine with Sunflower heads from good ‘ole Amazon, that was sent to me in Happy Mail from one of my amazing crafty Facebook friends.
Add a Sunflower head right on top for extra adorableness!
I can’t wait to decorate my Vintage Gumball Machine again for Fall! This will be my first time adding little pumpkins inside, so stay tuned for that makeover.
