Do you ever walk by a dumpster and see a piece of old furniture that someone is throwing out and think to yourself “I can make something with that?!” No….only me? Ok! HAHA! Well that’s exactly what happened with this here Upcycled Wooden Table Leg that I turned it into a Summer “Bee Happy” piece of porch decor.
Someone must have been throwing out an old table because as I walked in my house from work, there they were just sitting there by my dumpster screaming “take me, take me!” So I took not one, not two, not three, but ALL FOUR wooden table legs right up and on into my house.
They were the perfect size and shape, I just couldn’t pass them up, so I threw them under my bed and they sat there for one whole year. Until today that is! I saw this adorable “Bee Happy” sticker transfer at Dollar Tree and I immediately thought how perfect it would be to make a tall wooden piece of decor for my front porch. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, Bee’s, Sunflowers, and Lemon Crafts are all the rage this Summer!
My dumpster diving (not literally) is getting pretty bad, and even my kids are starting to catch on. They went for a walk the other day (They’re 10, I let them go around the block on their own) and came back with a small little glass table they saw that someone had left by their garbage on the sidewalk! They were so excited to show me because they knew I would just love it. Yea, I should probably get my little problem under control LOL.
Once you see what I did with these wooden table legs, I promise you’ll be keeping your eyes out at the dumpsters too!

How to Upcycle a Wooden Table Leg into a piece of Summer Decor
I made Upcycled this Wooden Table leg on video, so you can WATCH the step by step tutorial HERE or click the picture right below.
Watch the video tutorial here.
I don’t have the perfect step by step photos since this was made over live on my Facebook page (Are you following me over there, I do lot’s of fun LIVE DIY’s?!) But I’ll explain each step the best I can because it was super duper easy.
You simply dry brush the entire wooden table leg with white chalk paint. Don’t worry about getting full coverage, just get a nice white wash look and keep painting until your happy with the look.
Once that’s dry, apply the transfer sticker to the wooden leg. It’s literally peel and stick, and as you can see below it says it’s safe for just about any surface. I did have a hard time with some of the edges and corners not sticking, so I used a little bit of Mod Podge to help it stay.
Next, take your spouncer and make some yellow polka dots all around the table leg in totally random spots.
As many or as few polka dots as you like.
When you’re all done, it should look a little suntin’ suntin’ like this! If you’re putting your Upcycled Table Leg outside like me, go ahead and throw on a coat of Mod Podge over the whole thing to seal it in nicely.
