I am loving the Vintage Vibe this Christmas holiday season and it is showing through in all of my DIY crafts and decor. This classic vintage holiday rice paper printable is the perfect way to turn a wooden Christmas bulb ornament into something old, grungy and fabulous!
Ever since I discovered printables from Cathy at Digital Deco Designs I have been literally obsessed. I’m telling ya, go check them out for yourself and I dare you to not get addicted!
The print I ended up going with for this gorgeous Vintage Christmas Wooden Ornament was “Classic Vintage Holiday”, which I thought was just perfect for the Vintage Vibe I was going for on this one.
I have the digital download subscription, so I download and print them onto rice paper at home from my regular printer, but she offers print and ship as well for those that may not have a printer. Either way, once you start Mod Podging rice paper, you can’t stop!
This year I have gone a totally different direction in my Christmas vibe from what I did last year. Last year I was super Modern Christmas with red, black, and white, with some silver thrown in for good measure.
This year I am totes loving the vintage-y feel and its showing through in all the crafts I’ve been making like this Red Cardinal Dollar Tree Sled!

How to Makeover a Vintage Christmas Bulb Ornament
I made this Vintage Christmas Bulb Ornament on video, so you can WATCH it or click on the picture right below.
Start off by cutting your Dollar Tree wall tile into a a 3-4 inch strip long enough to go across the center of the wooden ornament, and then glue it on. You can trim it to fit after it is glued so you get the exact round shape for the sides.
Paint it all white, and then grunge it up with some Antique wax. Then add some gold dry brushing to give it the same look you would get with Rub n’ Buff (I didn’t have any).
Next, Mod Podge the rice paper to the top and bottom of the wood ornament, and then sand off the excess.
Take your Antique Wax and distress all along the edges. See it getting nice and grungy and vintagey!
Glue a strip of twine to the top and bottom of where the Dollar Tree tile meets the rice paper.
Paint the top of the Wooden Bulb Ornament metallic gold.
Glue some faux pine greenery and gold glitter branches to the top, facing outwards and leaving a space in the middle for a bow.
Make a simple fabric bow by ripping several strands of fabric, and looping and tying into a bow (watch the replay to see exactly how I make this one)
Finish it off by rusting some little bells and tying them to a piece of twine.
To do this, coat the bells generously in Mod Podge and then sprinkle with cinnamon until fully covered.
Make a shoestring bow, and tie one bell to each of the ends and attach on the front of your bow.
