Cardboard is KING! Thats my motto! Anytime that I want to make something and I don’t have the wood version of it, cardboard is my go-to and you wouldn’t even be able to tell!
Take these Yarn and Ribbon Wrapped Christmas Trees for example. If I didn’t tell you, would you have any idea at all that they are made with cardboard? Nope, didn’t think so!
You gotta love a good recycled craft. So I bring to you this adorable recycled Christmas craft for you to make and add to your holiday decor this year. You can whip up a few of these for almost no money at all, and in about 10 min a piece.
But the best part of these Cardboard Christmas Trees is that they can be made in any style under the sun! You see I made 3 different ones here, but this is just the tip of the iceberg of what you could do with these easy to make trees!
Farmhouse style? Check! Vintage? Check! Rustic with twine? Check! You name it, they could be made!
If you want some inspiration for a rustic version of this craft, check out these Rustic Foam Cone trees and you can adapt these cardboard ones for that style.

How to Make Yarn Wrapped Cardboard Christmas Trees
I made these Yarn Wrapped Cardboard Christmas Trees on video, so you can WATCH it or click on the picture right below.
First, cut the cardboard into tall triangles of whatever size you want. I decided to make 3 different sizes as a coordinating set. My biggest was about 12″ tall with the stand and my smallest was about 7″.
Glue your wooden dowel to the back of the cardboard BEFORE the next step, so that it is covered up by the yarn once you wrap them.
Next, wrap them in your yarn or ribbon using a dot of hot glue to secure at the beginning and the end.
Decorate them as you wish! For the white yarn wrapped tree I glued on red ruby gemstones, and a red foam star on top.
For the red yarn tree, I glued on white pom poms and a galvanized metal star on top.
The ribbon wrapped tree already had a pattern on the ribbon, so I decided to keep this one simple with just a white foam star on top.
The ribbon wrapped tree was a little trickier to wrap since my ribbon was 2″ thick. You may have to do a bit of folding and crimping and gluing the ribbon on the back in order to get it to look flat and good in the front. Don’t worry about that, theres no back of the craft police!
Finish these adorable cardboard Christmas Trees off by gluing a small wood round to the bottom of the dowel as the base.
