Step outside the Orange and Black box this Halloween with these super fun Rainbow colored coffins. These blinged out coffins are a cute and colorful way to make a banner and give your Halloween party or decor that glam look that will do the opposite of scaring people away!
Even though I am completely obsessed with rainbow and *all things color*, my multicolored love hasn’t spilled over into my Halloween decor….until this year. I don’t know if it’s all the craziness that 2020 has brought, but I decided to completely switch up the traditional Orange and Black Halloween decor for a beautiful Rainbow theme, and I am loving the Glam look so much that I don’t think I can ever go back!
This Blinged Out Rainbow Coffin idea was inspired from a Halloween Tree I saw over on Craftylumberjacks Instagram page. I also have serious stash of leftover foam posterboard from the YouTube Photo Booths that I make in my Etsy Store, so I thought “Why not make a Rainbow Coffin Banner!?”. And thus the Blinged Out Coffins were born.
These were so fun to make, and I’ll walk you through my creative process, but this is not going to be a step-by-step tutorial like I usually do for my projects. Making these felt more like decorating than it did crafting, and the entire Rainbow Banner was made from things that I already had in my craft stash. These Blinged Out Coffins would be a perfect addition to your Halloween Party, or just a fun and festive decoration for your home!
Let’s get glammed up for Halloween!

How to Make Glam Rainbow Coffin Banner
There really wasn’t too much of a tried and true step by step process I took to make these. I will walk through my creative process, but feel free to make these your own and get as creative as you’d like while designing your Coffin Banner. You could even go the traditional colored route and keep the rainbow colors at bay. It’s up to you!
Trace the shape of the coffin onto foam board, and use an X-acto knife to cut out the shapes.
We cut out 7 coffins total.
Paint each one a different color (or all the same, again it’s up to you!). We painted one for each color of the Rainbow (with a slightly brighter shade), and one black for the center.
Once the paint has fully dried, cover the surface with a generous layer of Mod Podge.
Sprinkle glitter, sequins, or anything small that you want to cover the entire surface of the Rainbow Coffin with. Then add the bigger embellishments like jewels, flowers, or gold/silver stars. If the embellishments are much larger, you made need to add some glue to get them to stick well.
Here is how I decided to Bling each one out:
Fuschia Pink Coffin
I sprinkled light and darker pink sequins, added larger pink plastic jewels, and a magenta faux flower that was leftover from a summer luau party a few years back (proof that you should always save your leftover supplies because you never know when you may need it!). I added one pink jewel to the center of the flower for good measure.
Orange Coffin
I added dark gold glitter and gold stars, and then glued on a cardboard flower scrapbook embellishment to the center.
Yellow Coffin
I added yellow glitter, and several cream colored “pearls” sporadically. Then I glued another leftover yellow/orange luau flower to the top, and placed a pearl in the center of the flower.
Lime Green Coffin
I added a layer of tube confetti, and a green luau flower to the bottom. I glued a smaller green scrapbook flower to the center of the larger flower to give it a POP.
Blue Coffin
I added a layer of tube confetti to this one as well, but then placed several blue plastic jewels around the surface. I than added a small blue fabric flower to the top, with another blue jewel in the center.
Purple Coffin
I added purple sequins, along with a lighter colored purple glitter paillettes. I then added a purple luau flower to the top, and glued some purple tube confetti to the center of the flower.
Black Coffin
I kept this one simple and added some silver stars, and glued a tiny silver glitter foam skull that I found at the Dollar Tree to the top.
Cut a piece of black sparkly ribbon about 3 or so feet long, and glue the Rainbow Foam Coffins to the ribbon to make a Blinged Out Halloween Banner to add to your Glam Halloween decor.
I could not be happier with how these Blinged Out Rainbow Coffins turned out, and although I made them into a banner, you could display them however your little heart desires. I actually toyed with the idea of making full coffins with a lid and all, but I don’t know if I would have made it through the rainbow doing it this way. That seemed like a little more work than I bargained for on this, so I stuck with the tops of the coffins only.
I can totally see this colorful Coffin Banner making a fun decoration for a Halloween Party, even though I don’t know how many of those will be occurring this year. So I intend to glam up my living room this year and do an entire Rainbow Halloween theme. What will you do with your Blinged Out Coffins?!
